    1. [PAERIE] naturalization
    2. as suggest by bill wennin, i am posting this message. i am in need of a search for my maternal grandfather's naturalization papers. either i can supply the information needed to fully complete this task or if you are familiar with the procedure at the erie county court house, it would be greatly appreciated. as i reside out of the erie county area, i could then inform my erie relatives on the correct procedure. kindly e-mail immediately. thank you. barbara

    3. Barbara, I am also posting this to the list since there may be others who would like to obtain their ancestors' naturalization papers. The process is very simple. You can write, call or visit the Erie Co. Courthouse. Naturalization records are available for 1825-1940. I don't remember exactly what it cost, but when I visited there last summer, I obtained the records for 3 or 4 of my husband's ancestors and the *total* cost was something less than $10. The lady who works in the naturalization records is extremely helpful and very good:-) It took only a few minutes for her to locate and copy all the records I requested. Erie City & County Naturalization Records Microfilm Department, Room #108 Erie County Courthouse, 140 West 6th Street Erie, PA 16501 814-451-6393 WATTS Line 1-800-352-0026 (from anywhere in PENNSYLVANIA -- can be used for any number within the Erie County Courthouse. Ask for department or extension number). Hope this helps. Good luck with your research! Gaylene Kerr Banister Houston, TX [email protected] http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~banister/index.html
