Hi list, After seeing a large stone with a plaque on it by the side of Millfair Road (Millcreek side), just south of Swanville Road (the original Ridge Road) for the last several months, I finally stopped to investigate it. Even though I go up and down Millfair Road 4 or 5 times a week (since April), I had never noticed the stone before. The stone reads - ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH FOUNDED ON THIS SITE APRIL 19, 1819 WITH THE DEEDING OF GRAVEYARD AND WHEATON MEETING HOUSE As there is apparent home construction going on in the area, I am not sure if this stone has always been here (and I just didn't see it), was just placed here recently, or if it was in another location in the area and has only recently been moved to the edge of the road. I have 4 photos of the stone with its plaque which I will add to the Millcreek Zing album in the next day or so. I would be interested if anyone is familiar with this. I have read thoroughly extracts from 3 different Erie county histories and although I have found a reference to Wheaton Meeting House, there is no reference to a graveyard. The present day church and graveyard of course are about a mile of so east of this location at 26th and Asbury. If I get a chance I am going to try to inquire at the church but wanted to post this in case anyone is familiar with it. Bill Klauk Millcreek Township, Erie Co., PA
