    3. I am refering to "Nelson's Biographical Dictionary ...and... ..Historical Reference Book.. ...of... Erie County, Pennsylvania", published 1896, S.B. Nelson, Publisher, Erie, PA. >From the title page - Containing a Condensed History of Pennsylvania, of Erie County, and of the several Cities, Boroughs and Townships in the ounty --ALSO-- Portraits and Biographies of the Governers since 1790, and of numerous Representative Citizens. Part VI, Family Histories and Biographical Sketches, runs from page 541 to 896, the total book being 922 pages, 8 1/2 x 11, plus a good number of unnumbered pages of illustrations, mostly people portraits. It is very similar to Beers 1884 in format, including much of the same information. The alphabetical index is 20 pages long, but does not seem to cross reference every name, but it does include most. The biographies for the most part are people who were living in the 1890s, but do tend to include each person's parents and parents children. In the history section, this one seems particularly stong in the City of Erie. Once I get a chance to scan a few more pages and then proofread them, I will be providing them to Mike, just as Gaylene has been doing with her Bates history. I will probably be extracting biographies at some future time, but in the meantime would be glad to do lookups for anyone if you e-mail your request privately to me.
