HI Everyone! I got this great note today from Richard Tefft, President of the Erie Society for Genealogical Research! He started his note as follows: "Mike As President of the Erie Society for Genealogical Research I want to tell you we are very pleased with what you are accomplishing with the Erie County web site. I have been waiting for the dust to clear and for you to catch your breath before contacting you." He went on to say that the Society in interested in working with us to add things to our site, such as cemetery readings, and to start filling out their site with information gathered in their past newsletters! This working partnership will be a great boon to Erie County researchers. You all owe yourselves a pat on the back for making the Erie County Genealogy site worthy of this recognition by an established Genealogical Society in Erie County!!! He went on to say that "Most of what we have access to is not really our property so we can't do everything we would like, but we are looking at the 28 years worth of records we have published in our newsletter and are going to pull out the more obscure things that are not available elsewhere and put them up. We feel that if we had permission to publish them in the newsletter, then we have permission to publish them on our site. We are in the process of getting copies of the old newsletters to members to get them loaded in the computer to do so. We still do not want to compete with your site so will not be putting up the kind of information you are putting up. We do have cemetery listings that we have published that we could give you, but our first priority is getting some things typed for our site. I hope in the future to be able to get things typed to send you." He will be sending me the reading for the Greenfield Cemetery (Little Hope) that was read by the local LDS Youth Group this summer for a starter. I suggested that some of our volunteer typists might make themselves available to him to help with the transcribing of their newsletters. I have not heard back from him yet to see if he would be interested in this offer or not. I will let you know. I am really proud to be part of this group of awesome folks! I am looking forward to our continued partnership in helping each other discover our Heritage! Mike Wennin Check out the Erie County Genealogy page- it's awesome!! http://www.rootsweb.com/~paerie
