I am researching my ancestor John D. Miller. His original German name was most likely MULLER, which he changed to Miller when he arrived in US. John D. Miller born 10-9-1824 in Wurtemburg (Germany). John married Margaret Werner in Germany and they had one child there prior to coming over. Mary Elizabeth Miller b. 2-23-1850 Essen, Germany Once they arrived in Erie, Erie Co, PA they had 3 more children: 1. John D, Miller , Jr. b. 1854 Erie 2. Maggie Miller b. 1859 Erie 3. Katie Miller b. 1857 Erie JOhn D. Miller stated that he immigrated in 1854, and was later Naturalized. By 1880 census this family has settled in Lima, Allen Co, OH. I have never been able to find any records for this family in Erie, PA. I live overseas and can only use the internet as a resource. Does anyone have the 1860 Erie, PA census? If so is there a John D. Miller born in Wurtemburg listed? Are there any other researchers who have German immigrants who arrived in Erie in 1854? Have you had any luck with finding ship information? Where there ships coming from Bremen or Hamburg directly to Erie in 1854, or would they have stopped somewhere else first? Best regards, Lillian Kathleen Martin
