1. [PAERIE] Darius Mead Family History Site Online!
2. November 3, 2003 SOMETHING NEW ON THE WEB! AN ILLUSTRATED BIOGRAPHY OF DARIUS MEAD (1728-1791) Greetings to All: I am pleased to announce the Darius Mead biography on my Web site, Bliley.net, is now complete and ready for public access. This is really a family history, written and originally published by Rush Maxwell Blodget for the 1937 Mead family reunion in Youngsville, PA. It is titled: "Darius Mead, His Ancestors and Some of his many decedents, 1728-1791". Darius Mead and his descendants were major contributors to the development of Northwestern, Pennsylvania and the founding of Youngsville and Meadville, Pennsylvania. Visit the Web site at http://www.Bliley.net/family/Darius_Mead/ Here you will find a transcription of Blodget's 15,000 word booklet posted in HTML, PDF, MS Word and plain text fomats for download. The Web page is relatively large at 130 k, and may take a longer than normal to load, but it contains the complete illustrated manuscript. Unfortunately, the author, Rush Blodget, did not present any citations for his sources. Still the work is far better than nothing, and I doubt he made this all up. I do not have any other significant documentation on the Mead line with the exception of the "Memoirs of Mary Jane Mead Bliley (1827-1913)" my great grandmother who was born in Brokenstraw, PA. ( http://www.Bliley.net/family/MJ_Mead/MJ_Mead_Memoirs.html) Feel free to pass on the URLs to anyone that may be interested. To date, with only three interested people knowing of the Darius Mead page, it has well over 800 hits in a week! Someone must have leaked the URL to the public before it was ready for "prime-time", or the counter source was spooked by Halloween. If you did pass it on, that is OK, but I would like to know where this hive of Mead kin are located and make sure they are properly introduced to the site. ;-) For other links to my other family history sites with a focus on my Bliley and Dawson lines of Western, PA, please go to my root home page at http://www.Bliley.net. Best regards, Charles A. Bliley www.Bliley.net Pittsford, NY (585) 385-6838 (Afternoons & Evenings) P.S. As required by AOL for publishers of mass e-mail messages, I must respect your desire to be removed from the mailing list. If you do not wish to remain on the list, please send me a message with "Mead-Remove" in the subject field. At this hour, I do not have any intentions of publishing any other messages to this list.
