Where there ships coming from Bremen or Hamburg directly to Erie in 1854, or would they have stopped somewhere else first? >> Hello Lillian, While I cannot give you a direct lead to your information, you may find some leads by reviewing the pages of the Palmer Registry of Merchant Ships (<A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/mppraetorius/"> http://www.geocities.com/mppraetorius/</A>). This is not a searchable listing, but his work is extensive for this period and it often includes a photo or drawing of the ship. I found the ship that my ancestors sailed on from France in 1834 on this site with two photos of paintings. My ancestors were emigrating from Germany themselves. I never thought I would find this much information so easily anywhere. Of course, I had the name of the ship and nothing more. Good luck! Chuck Bliley Rochester, NY www.Bliley.net
