Chicago: Lewis Pub. Co., 1909 A couple of pages of bio of a Berst family in Erie - Conrad Berst of Plautz, Germany ,b. 1779, emigrated to US in 1798, md. Catherine Gunthner [sp?] at Manheim, Lancaster Co., PA in 1807. Served in War of 1812, moved to Butler Co. in 1827, then to Erie Co. in 1830. In 1836, he moved to Kosciusko Co., IN where he remained til his death. His son, John, b. Manhiem, Lancaster Co. Sep. 3, 1808, md. Elizabeth Miller in 183 in Erie Co.
