QUOTE The land deeds and the wills are at the Erie County Court House, and there are indexes to both. Also, there are mortgage books, which are often overlooked by researchers in the beginning but which provide some wonderful information. I have found land and mortgage deeds that list entire families and their relationships, when sometimes the wills do not. The land and mortgage deeds begin as early as the 1830s. You can search the books yourself, or the cost if $15.00 a search. I was charged $1.00 a page for photocopies of the wills, and $0.50 for photocopies of the land deeds.
