re: mortgage records for Erie County: If you're far away from Harrisburg AND Erie, like I am in Utah, the mortgage records for 1815-1836, and indices for 1823-1919 are available to be ordered at your local Family History Center. These records are on microfilm. Perhaps with an exact volume and page number, a local person could be found to look up the record. Linda in Utah
