Could someone do a lookup on a John Mullin of Corry, PA where he lived as of 1905. I believe he married a Mary Conniely, her father being a John Conniely of Corry. Also looking for names in the 1870 census of the same Corry, PA for Catharine (who married a Dennis Mullin, she died 1887) Footman/Tootman/Fookmaun? and a Mary Lavey/Leary. Last names are unclear. I have some birth and death records on these people and some names are unclear but they married Mullins. Actually I'd settle for any Mullin/en names in the 1870 census and and above, or the 1899 city directory of Corry, PA. If you need more information to help me please email me. I thank you so much. Ginny

I am researching Levi Daniel BUTT, b 9 Dec 1844 in Pennsylvania. I have his father as Daniel BUTT, b 1819 in Pennsylvania, d 1884. I found Daniel in the 1850 Census in Mill Creek Township, Erie County. His wife was Maria WOLFE. Additional children of Daniel and Maria were: Daniel, John C, Wesley, Cyrus, Franklin and Jennie. Wesley was born in 1852 in Ohio so the family apparently had moved from Pennsylvania before then. I found clues in previous BUTT mailing list posts that Daniel's father may be John b c1783, d 26 March 1851in Erie Co, PA. John also owned land in Ashtabula County, Ohio. All my mail to the message senders was returned for incorrect address. Do any of these names sound familiar to anyone? Thank you, Diane Lapp Cox
Hello Everyone: Pardon the personal plug, but I was told it was a valuable presentation I made a few weeks ago on "Tabletop Photography and... Family Stories" for the genealogist. This presentation was given to the computer special interest group of our local Rochester (NY) Genealogical Society. I did a lot of photos of small electronic products last Fall for a commercial Web site project that I have been working on, and the down-and-dirty photo techniques seemed to be well suited to home genealogist. Word got out that I was looking like a digital photography expert that could be had without the group paying travel expenses. That sort of economy always amplifies the potential speaker's value. ;-) As a complement to the live presentation, I put my PowerPoint slide show on my Web site for the members to look at from home. I am sure that a few of you may find it of value to look over. You will find it at http://www.Bliley.net/rgs/. I caution you, the presentation is graphic-laden and may be a bit slow with a dial-up connection. You can be the judge of whether or not it is worth the download time. One of my objectives was to convince the group that you can have some fun and do your decedents a favor by illustrating some of your family stories with pictures you have taken. This is probably not a novel idea, but one worth revisiting from time-to-time. Also, documenting some seemingly trivial artifacts can be a lot of fun and pass on a lot of information about the personality or character of a relative. Take for example a set of tools used by yourself or a close relative in a hobby or profession. Try to show the person using them, if they are still alive, or the tools used to make something, such as a chair, quilt, painting or wood carving. Showing what was used beyond the brain and connecting it to the finished product can be a wonderful story and adventure for you. Look at a few of the other examples in my slide show. The show is available for viewing online, or can be downloaded in various forms including PowerPoint and PDF. Let me know what you think of the presentation and if you have any tips to share with other visitors. God only knows, and my wife, that I do not have a corner on good ideas. ;-) I also made another presentation to the group two years ago on the techniques and tools used in my preparation of the CD-ROM version of my grandmother's photo album. You will find the presenation on "Preparing a Family Photo Album on CD-ROM" at http://www.bliley.net/family/Lula_Bliley/Album_CD/Development.htm. Have fun and keep your camera steady. Speaking of Old Photos, try this one! http://www.deadfred.com/ I love it even though I haven't found anybody yet. Enjoy! Carole
Hello everyone, Don't think that I announced that the theme for April for the website at www.rootsweb.com/~paerie is Faces of Erie County and Family Histories. I have been a little busy lately - just became a grandfather for the first time on April 3rd so between working for the last three days at my paying job, and spending time with my daughter and granddaughter, and updating the family genealogy, I haven't had much free time. Anyone who has anything to submit on this month's themes may send it to me directly at the reply to email address. Other submissions are welcome, but priority will be given to those that have a Family History or Faces of Erie Co theme. I would also like to let everyone know that I have been asked to also maintain the Erie Society for Genealogical Research (ESGR) website. This site consist of only a small number of pages, so I don't anticipate that this will take anything away from the USGenWeb/PAGenWeb Erie Co Genealogy website. If it was the guardianship went through the court it would be recorded in the Register of Wills office. Look in the index under the minor's name. -- Elissa On Sat, 29 Mar 2003 16:32:35 -0500 "Jack & Teresa hughes" <jatsh@msn.com> writes: > I am looking for records from the 1930 from children's services or such > agency. trying to find guardianship papers or transfer from parent to > Elmwood boys home. has anyone ever seen records for family services, > children's services, orphan courts for the 1930 period for Erie county? > > Teresa & Jack jatsh@msn.com > ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Hello Listers! Allow me to ammend my recent posting for information on these churches. St. Michaels' was a Catholic Church in Erie that was destroyed by fire. Supposedly, St. Paul's Catholic Church on Walnut Street has their records. Can anyone confirm or provide more info. on accessing these records? How far back do they go? Many thanks ........ Jackie Researching Schneider, Wolf(e)
Hello Erie Researchers! I have a long list of ancestors who belonged to a St. Michael's church in Erie. I understand that the church was destroyed by fire, and that the records may be at St. Paul's. Does anyone on the list know which records survived the fire and how far back they go? Also, how accessible are these records through St. Paul's? I am interested in going back at least to 1901 when my gggrandmother, MARY CATHERINE SCHNEIDER (wife of Conrad SCHNEIDER) was buried from St. Michael's in December 1901. Need to determine Mary's date of birth and the marriage date and place for this couple. Court house didn't have an official death certificate for Mary, listing states her death on Dec 19th (age 65) and burial on Dec. 21st. (She was born in Germany.) She resided at 1218 W. 18th St., Millcreek Township at the time. No date of birth in Brugger's Funeral Home records either. Hoping someone out there is familiar with these churches. Many thanks, Jackie
Many thanks to Joan and Rich for posting the Fairview Cemetery burials! I have located a cousin on the list, and wonder if there is some kind soul who regularly visits the cemetery with a digital camera who could email to me a digital photo of their tombstone? They are: FRED and MARY WAHA in Section W of the cemetery Thanks also to Bill for hosting an incredibly comprehensive web site! Hello Erie County Researchers, Two major major features have been added to the Erie Co (PA) Genealogy website this past week. Earlier in the week, I added eight pages of material concerning the Fairview Cemetery Burial Listings. One page serves as an index, and the actual burial listings take up seven web pages. I am not sure of the actual number of names, but the introduction notes that there were 3800 burials from the start of the cemetery until the end of 1982. These listings are a shortened format of material published in the book "Burials in Fairview Cemetery". The listings have been provided for posting on the web site by Joan Mink of the Fairview Area Historical Society, through Rich Biondi, our Fairview Township Coordinator. On Thursday, I finished posting a major article written and submitted by Beth Simmons, our Harbor Creek Township Coordinator. This article, "Rees' Pieces", has been split into five parts for posting on the website. Beth wrote this feature in 1999 (or before), and it was originally published as a series of articles in the Tri-Community News. It will also be featured in a commemorative booklet as a part of Harbor Creek's Bicentennial. Included within the five parts of the article are just about every name associated with the early days of Harbor Creek Township. At least ten other pages have been added since the 1st of March, including three from our steady contributor, Evelyn Baker, and several from first time contributors. Please see the What's New page for all of the recent changes. The website homepage recorded 204 visitors on 3/4. This was the day after the Erie Times-News article about my work with the site. We normally average 75 to 90 visits per day. I guess a little advertising doesn't hurt. Hi, I checked the directories in our library and there was nothing. North East does have a small library, but I don't know about the directories for that time frame. I am sure if you called or emailed they would get back to you. Sorry Mary
Hello, I have a wedding picture of my grandparents. They were married in Erie Pennsylvania at Sacred Heart Church on May 18, 1897. Their two witnesses who are also in the picture are Peter Ibach and Julia Fromknecht. If you are related to either of them, I would be glad to send a copy of the picture to you. Mary
