Could someone tell me how to obtain an obituary that appeared in the Erie times News on April 17, 2003 for Stuart Rowland Porter who died on april 15, 2003 at age 69. I was able to read a short version on the Newspapers web site, but would need to be a member in order to see the FULL write up. I am just beginning research on this line, and any help would be appreciated! Thanks! _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
Mary Ann, I do not have a copy of Stuart Porter's death certificate, but could probably get you a copy of it as my husband's sister was married to him. I also do genealogy on my family and have started on my husband's family. If I can be of any help, please email me at dspears2@tampabay.rr.com. Gail

I am looking for information on Luman Haskins who died in Erie in 1848. There is evidence that he was a member of the Universal Church in the Borough of Erie. He served as the/a Commissioner of Port Erie. Any suggestions for sources to search would be welcome. Thanks, Barbara
On kindredconnections.com, a man of that name is listed as born 1808 and md. Arabella King in 1833. Two other men of the same name (ages 53 and 48) appear in the 1870 census - one in Niagara Co. NY and one in Tuscarawa Co. OH. They are in the 1880 census also (at familysearch.org). Since it's an unusual first name, they might be somehow related??? In the 1860 census, possible widow of Luman, Arabella HASKINS, b NY, appears as head of household in 20th Ward, Philadelphia, PA, a 44-yr. old seamstress, with Clementine 21, Adalade 19, Frances 17, Bonnie 15, and Henry 12. The three oldest girls were working as seamstresses as well. All the children were b PA. 1910 census, Clementine, Adelaide E., and Bonnie A. are all (apparently) old maids living as aunts with Wm. and Arabella Gilmore (or Gelmore) in the 44th ward, Phila. (He is an undertaker). The women (i.e., the aunts) list their fa as b VT, their mo NY. Arabella, b PA, lists her fa as b Ireland, her mo b PA (probably Frances?) She was apparently named for her grandmother. Whether these are yours or not depends in part on the accuracy of the minimal info at Kindred Connections (viz) - and whether that one is your Luman. I suggest you diligently search the Web, especially Erie Co. sites, and post queries at relevant county sites, surname lists, etc. You might also uncover something by following up on the Port connection, though a cursory search on my part found nothing. You might also contact a lcoal (i.e., Erie Co.) genealogical society to check for a possible Haskins family file. Good luck! --- dweir <dweir@erols.com> wrote: > I am looking for information on Luman Haskins > who died in Erie in 1848. My Francis family arrived in Franklin or Girard Twp. Erie Co. about 1835 I think they might have been Methodists but am uncertain. I am trying to find the marriage record of Henry FRANCIS b. Sep. 1, 1823 and Mary Jane POPE b. Jan. 22, 1825. They were married November 3, 1841. Does anyone have access to these records or know where I can find them? Thank you, Carolee cchapman@arctic.net
My research in Erie County needs to be in the early 1800's-1800-1803. Are there any available records for these years or were they all destroyed for that period of time? So many counties have no early records and I would like to know about Erie. Thanks, Doris

Hi: I have a John Parmater (born 1792, died 10 November 1863) who married Rhoby Stafford. They had at least 2 children, Maryann born 1816 and Lydia born 1818. Don't have any other Parmater / Parmertor information as I am researching the Stafford line, but thought you would find the spelling interesting. ----- Original Message ----- From: RRParmerter@aol.com To: PAERIE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, June 06, 2003 4:51 PM Subject: [PAERIE] Re: PAERIE-D Digest V03 #69 In a message dated 6/6/2003 1:01:12 PM Eastern Daylight Time, PAERIE-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: > PAERIE-L@rootsweb.com > Thanks for the 1860 census information on Merritt.
