Hi guys, I have added over 40 new obits to the Erie Obit Page pertaining mostly to The FROMKNECHT and ABEL lines. A few stragglers that aren't even related. I added these simply for the reason that they were on the same page of one of our kin. I hope you guys find some use for these. My fingertips are going numb from typing so much today. Anyway, have fun and let me know if there is anything I missed or made an error on. Happy Hunting as always ~Marian ______________________________________________ FREE Personalized Email at Mail.com Sign up at http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup
Hi, all. My map shows an "Avenia" right near Lake Erie soutwest of Millcreek. Could your place name have gotten corrupted in spelling through the years? Just thought I'd throw that out as a suggestion. Linda in Utah Ron Yielding wrote: > Searching for the Irish Mackey family who may have been camped-out in > 1819, where a son George Mckey was born. Searching for the Irish Mackey family who may have been camped-out in 1819, where a son George Mckey was born. Mohawk seems to be a key word, and an old Atlas refers me to Ivarea, Erie County, PA. I can find neither in my 1896 Atlas. Anyone hear of these places or the Mackeys, who eventually travelled East to Saratoga County, NY maybe along the Mohaawk River. Thanks, Ron Yielding Palm Springs, CA

Bill -- Are there any records of the burials at the Almshouse cemetery? I'm still hunting for a burial record for my great-grandmother Kinde/Kindie/Kendie (sometimes misunderstood as Kennedy). Her husband was certainly poor, and had three little girls to care for. If he didn't have money for burial, is it possible the almshouse would have buried her there?

If Zing has their act together yet (they have been having problems the last several days) then anyone reading this may view 57 pictures of present and past schools at http://www.zing.com/album/pictures.html?id=4293463769 . Schools pictures include Asbury, Ridgefield, Walnut Creek, Weis, Old Tracy, Montclair, Love, Miller, Parker, Laird, school now Manor Motel, school now Zuckville, and Zuck. I may have skipped a name, but I think this is what I have photographed so far. If anyone has a picture of the now demolished Lakewood, old Belle Valley, Kearsarge or Millcreek/Westminster schools, or any old photos of the one room schools, I would certainly like to arrange for a copy. That's all for tonight. Bill Klauk Millcreek Township, Erie County, PA
Hi Sally, Both my father and mother's family were well situated in Corry. On my mother's side the family goes back two or three generations in Corry and Union City. My father's side the family was more situated in North Warren, Warren County; where I am trying to find the where about of a great uncle. Welcome to the list! I'm working on the Cook family (Mariah Blanche Cook, b. Jan. 1877) in Harbor Creek. I know it isn't the two places you mentioned, but it is in the east of the county. The first wife of a direct line is buried in the Corry Cemetery: Hyacinth, or Heidi, Wethli. She md. Wilford Pomeroy in 1936, and died the following year in childbirth. If this helps, let me know. HI Everyone! I got this great note today from Richard Tefft, President of the Erie Society for Genealogical Research! He started his note as follows: "Mike As President of the Erie Society for Genealogical Research I want to tell you we are very pleased with what you are accomplishing with the Erie County web site. I have been waiting for the dust to clear and for you to catch your breath before contacting you." He went on to say that the Society in interested in working with us to add things to our site, such as cemetery readings, and to start filling out their site with information gathered in their past newsletters! This working partnership will be a great boon to Erie County researchers. You all owe yourselves a pat on the back for making the Erie County Genealogy site worthy of this recognition by an established Genealogical Society in Erie County!!! He went on to say that "Most of what we have access to is not really our property so we can't do everything we would like, but we are looking at the 28 years worth of records we have published in our newsletter and are going to pull out the more obscure things that are not available elsewhere and put them up. We feel that if we had permission to publish them in the newsletter, then we have permission to publish them on our site. We are in the process of getting copies of the old newsletters to members to get them loaded in the computer to do so. We still do not want to compete with your site so will not be putting up the kind of information you are putting up. We do have cemetery listings that we have published that we could give you, but our first priority is getting some things typed for our site. I hope in the future to be able to get things typed to send you." He will be sending me the reading for the Greenfield Cemetery (Little Hope) that was read by the local LDS Youth Group this summer for a starter. I suggested that some of our volunteer typists might make themselves available to him to help with the transcribing of their newsletters. I have not heard back from him yet to see if he would be interested in this offer or not. I will let you know. I am really proud to be part of this group of awesome folks! I am looking forward to our continued partnership in helping each other discover our Heritage! Mike Wennin Check out the Erie County Genealogy page- it's awesome!! http://www.rootsweb.com/~paerie

Mike , I found these links today and thought how nice it would be if these links were online on the Erie site under the old map link and they also show townships in a new map . What do you think ? Can you link these up to our Erie site? http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/maps/pa/state/pa-1836.jpg http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/maps/pa/county/wpa1876.jpg I loved this one that shows the town ships; http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/maps/pa/county/erie/erie2.jpg main page;- http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/maps/pa/county/erie/usgs/ Found these on the State archives site under maps, I just think it would be nice to have them at the Erie site. Hi to the Gene lists I am still trying to find documentation of the father/son relationship between Cyril Greene who married Mary "Polly" Williams and their son, Silas Greene who married Hannah Unknown. Cyril was born in RI 1779 and Silas was born in NY 1814. They and their families moved to Crawford Co., PA about 1835. Any help in proof of this father/son would be greatly appreciated.--Betty
Looking for information on Ansel CULVER who was living at Elk Creek township, Erie Co., Pa in 1860 and 1870. Any information on him would be appreciated. Please e-mail me!! Thank-You, Sharon
The Francis cemetery is named for the Francis Family, of which I am related on a collateral line. they are descended from Robert Francis of Connecticut. You will often find them with Uffords. Seems these two of my lines liked each other a lot! <G>. I have a list somewhere in my stuff that lists the Francis' s buried there, it was taken by a cousin three years ago. I also have Bentons and Smiths in the Elk Creek-Girard area. My namesake uncle was born in Wellsburg, C.Vernon Hopkins. Vern Hall Born in Ashtabula County
