Hi Folks! We are being contested for the right to use the cemetery readings for the following cemeteries that we have online: The Old Marcy Brock Burial Plot Sherman Cemetery Stafford Burial Plot Stancliff Cemetery The Christian Stones in East Springfield Someone is claiming to have read them and that his work was used by Cheri Nolan. Dee got these readings from the PA State Archives online where they have been posted for over 3 years. Since most of these sites have only a handful of names in them, I am asking that some of you take the time to go to these sites and "read" the stones, send me a copy of the readings and I will post you as the contributor of the information. My other choice is to remove the readings from the site and I do not want to lose this information. And if you find anymore along the way....I will take those too! LOL Thanks for you help! Can anyone shed any light in this? Please respond directly to Phil if you can. Thanks! If anyone is a member of ancestry.com, would you be willing to do a Pennsylvania Civil War roster lookup for me? I'm trying to determine if there is a flaw in the information I recently posted about Henry Emerson, and all links from various Civil War sites into ancestry.com require a membership for lookups. Thanks in advance... Linda
Yes, I had that problem, too. But I found if I just clicked on 'Previous page' and then "next page", it "unstuck" the problem. Try that, and see what happens. I have recently discovered that my gr-grandfather's brother, Henry Emerson, served in the Civil War and is buried at Evergreen Cemetery. Since I am not well-informed of military abbreviations, would someone be so kind as to "translate" the following information: Civil War Vet., Co. L, 113 Reg., 12th PA, Cav., served 12/29/1863 to 07/20/1865 Many thanks... Linda Emerson Twain Harte, CA
This is a great site! Thank you for letting us know about it. Is anyone else experiencing a technical problem with the site? Whenever the result of my query is more than one page long, I continue to receive this message when I go to the second page: "Our Search Engine encountered a problem with your query. Please check that you have entered a query." Linda Emerson Twain Harte, CA (descendant of Abraham Emerson, Union Township, Erie County, PA)
Hello All, I'm new to the list and I would like to find information on my aunt and uncle, Gus and Beatrice Thomas ANDERSON. I would like to find their obits, if possible. Gus died around 1964 and Beatrice died February, 06, 1979. All I know is that they lived in Erie, PA. I would also like any info on a Clyde E. Thomas who died May 26, 1960. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... Nancy Ann Thomas Palo Alto, CA
I'd like to second the opinion about this site. Wow! I entered "Erie Pennsylvania" and the site returned 500 entries. The panoramic photo mentioned is item #210 in the list, and is from 1912. There are also many maps, pictures of buildings, and not only in Erie, but in all of Erie County, and some in Crawford County as well. This is a great site! I'm going to bookmark it. Thanks, Dana, this is a real treasure! Linda in Utah "Dana M. Silfies" wrote: > The link below has thousands of historical items, > old pictures, deeds, newspapers, maps and tons > of reading. Hi List, The road Ivarea is named after my great-grandfather's sister: Iva Rea. Her father, John J. Rea, started the first post office in the area of Crane Road and Ivarea. Iva was killed by lightening in 1898. Our last name, Rea, is pronounced Ray. Hello fellow listers! Here I am again! have been spending a little time at the Erie Pages lately and am just so excited about all the progress this site is showing! Yesterday I sent a link to Mike requesting that he add a link of some family photos to the page. Today they are there. It is so nice. I don't know how many of ya'll know that he is doing this - but it is great! Whether you are using Zing or Photopoint, this can be done. And what a way for Erieites to be able to access those family pics. Mike is listing them under "Faces of Erie County" Catchy huh? Well, as of yet, there are only two links. I guess we need to get busy. Just thought some of you that didn't all ready know this was available to us would be interested. Thanks again Mike for all the hard work you are putting into this for us. And to everyone else that has been contributing! What a wonderful community! Also I have been busy adding lots of obituaries to the site. Once I get caught up on the ones I already have I will go back to volunteering to do lookups again. And I will merely post the results on the obit board. =) Wonderful! Hopefully, I will be finished with my own by the end of this week. I will keep you posted. Thanks for your time - Have a wonderful day. Justina Baron, 100 years old died last Sunday. http://ge.us.publicus.com/ is the web page for Erie Times, her obit appeared today. Years ago Justina researched descendants of Peter Jacob Barron, a book was published typed up by Madeline Dodd. Since then Madeline researched 6 generations of ancestors of Peter Jacob Barron. We have also made contact with my descendants of Johann Baron. I am nearly ready to publish a book with information on over 2,000 descendants of Johann Baron. Greg Burton Baltimore, Maryland

Hi: Just thought I would put my two cents worth in on this Ivarea business. I don't think you will find it on any map as, from what my mom used to tell me, it was a little settlement near Platea It was pronounced "I-va-ray". Anyway, that's the general area.
