    3. Ancestry.com is allowing free access to its databases through December 21st. I am forwarding the message below from them, as I note that the 1910 PA Miracode index of the census is supposed to be included and I believe when this database was available free for 10 days previously that several people mentioned some 'finds'. I am a subscription member to their databases and this is NOT a solicitation for others to join, only a forwarding of some free access to genealogical records. 3. Hi Friends! Am hoping that one of you living in Erie can help me. I would like a copy of an automobile and pedestrian accident that occured April 11, 1930 at 26th and Pittsburgh. This accident resulted in the death of Arthur Harris who lived at 2103 W. 32nd Street at that time. I already have a copy of his obit from the paper of April 12, 1930. Could be in either paper. Also, would like a copy of the obituary for Elsie Etta Elder, date of death unknown, however believe their are surname lists at the library. Thank you....Thank you....Thank you! Barb

    3. Hi List's, Can you tell me how far is Moorheadville, PA to Corry, PA? Here my great grandmother is buried in Corry, PA in Pine Grove Cemetery and I have wrote to Bracken Funeral Home to see if they have her burial record. Then I have received a information from Erie Library and found Erie Daily Times in Nov. 22, 1932; this what it said: "DIED: Mrs. Mary Alice Jackson, wife of Mr. D. C. Jackson, at her home, south of Moorheadville, early Monday morning. Funeral services at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gower, at Moorheadville, Wednesday at 12 o'clock. Interment in Corry. Friends invited." What I am wondered what do you think the funeral home will be? Do they have a funeral home in Moorheadville, PA? I am wondered if I wrote to the wrong funeral home in Corry, PA "Bracken Funeral Home". I haven't received a letter from them yet. What do you think my great grandmother Mary Alice Jackson could be living at "south of Moorheadville"? Any information is much appreciated. Will you help me understand this and where I can write to the funeral home or do you think I did the right thing in writing to Bracken Funeral Home in Corry, PA? Thank. Teresa from Oklahoma

    3. If your friend was going to school in downtown Erie, then she probably was attending Mercyhurst College. I believe in 1968 this was still primarily, if not all, female catholic school, along with Villa Maria College which was incorporated into Gannon University. Gannon, I believe was still primarily a men's college in 1968, although this may have been about the time they started admitting women. If your friend was attending college in Erie County, but not in the city itself, chances are she attended Edinboro State University which may still have been known as Edinboro State Teachers College, as I am not sure when the name change was made. Was your friend a Pennsylvania resident? Edinboro was a state college, so a lot of residents wanting to be teachers went there. There is also the Behrend Campus of Penn State University which I think in 1968 was considered a Junior College, or the preliminary to attending the main campus. This was also a state school so PA residents paid less money for tuition. Gannon has a web site, and I believe the other's do also if you want to do an Internet search. 3. Teresa, I might suggest that you contact the Corry Chamber of Commerce at [email protected] or search around the Corry pages web site which is at http://www.tbscc.com/museum/index.htm and http://www.tbscc.com/cacc/ just to give you two points of entry. There is also a page there for the Corry Library which include a phone number, but I didn't see any mention of obituaries. I didn't see any funeral homes listed at the site, although there are a lot of phone numbers for various organizations and churches, etc. at http://www.tbscc.com/corry/ . The only phone book listing that I see is for Braken Funeral Home, 315 N Center, Corry (814) 664-7735. I have posted this reply to the list in case others might be interested. 1. [PAERIE] Carson- Longstreet, Riceville, Lincolnville?
    2. I am looking for the parents of Ellen E. Carson. She was born in 1848 and married a Frank D. Longstreet(m. 5-10-1876) and had three children to my knowledge, Herbert Carson Longstreet, Addie Ellen (Longstreet) Phillips, and Mamie Longstreet. She died in 1915 in Wattsburg, PA. I know that Frank's parents previously lived in Riceville, PA and Lincolnville, PA. I cannot find these two villes in the atlas, so I have the feeling that they were small road crossings like the Crossingville I grew up in. Can anyone help me with Riceville, Lincolnville, or Ellen Carson? Thank you! Cindy Snyder

    1. [PAERIE] Waterford area

    3. I am looking for Retha/Wretha Webb McClure Benson. She was born April 16, 1877 in Clarion Co., PA to James and Mary Ann Rowe WEBB. James went out to Colorado to mine and Mary Ann died in 1878. An unknown family in Waterford area was to have taken and raised her after the death of her mother. I would like to find out who the family was that raised her and more about her and her children. She was a sister to my ancestor Samuel WEBB. Samuel and their brother George were raised by their Uncle & Aunt - Joseph Newton and Elizabeth Jane Webb BUZZA down in Kossuth, Clarion Co., PA. It has been stated that the family who raised her were related to us also. It has been a mystery that I would like to find out about. Retha was 1st m. to R. McClure and 2nd to Doug Benson I think. She died March 31, 1919 and I would like to find an obit for her. I have a photo of a lady that was taken from a photographer in Waterford. No name on it for who she was. The photographer was HOOPER. Would anyone know when he would have been in business in Waterford? I feel that it may be Retha's photo but am not sure. The photo was in the possession of my ancestor Samuel Webb's wife when she died in 1940, so that is why I am wondering if it could be Retha. Thanks, Betty Macdonald

    3. Happy Thanksgiving to all of the PAERIE list, For all of you here in Erie or neighboring counties, you know what this is like, but for those who are not, the official November snowfall has just moved 2000 into second place for most snowfall in Erie during November all time. Only Nov 1950 (exactly 50 years!) had more. Of course, we have 6 plus more days to have 10 more inches of snow, so we could break the record yet. If anyone wants to see what the snow looks like, I have created a special Zing album at ---> http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4293323417 with 18 pictures taken at about 2:30 this afternoon.
