    1. [PAERIE] Thank you for the Civil War Sites
    2. Thank you all so much for the Civil War sites, and the offers to look it up on Ancestry. Unfortunately, Robert Thompson is a common name, and I'll have to have my mother read his gravestone to see if his regiment or enlisting date is on it. I am so blessed to have such a great group in Erie. God Bless you, Cindy Snyder- native of Erie- misplaced on the Gulf Coast, MS

    2. In case the online stuff doesn't give you what you are looking for -- You can request a copy of his service records from General Reference Branch (NNRG-P), National Archives and Records Administration, 7th and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20408. They will probably send you a form to fill out and submit. They require the following minimum information: Complete name (including middle, if you know it); state from which he served; war in which he served; whether Union or Confederate; and whether Army, Navy, or Marine Corps. Take a chance with Army and see if they can turn up something. The Bates histories have extensive lists of soldiers by regiment and company (History of the Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1861-1865, Bates [Samuel?] 1870, several volumes. I'm sure all historical and genealogical libraries are familiar with these. Janet - Delaware

    1. [PAERIE] US Census - Donna Clark
    2. William Klauk
    3. If Donna Clark is a reader of this list, would you please contact me. Although the 1800 Erie County census reading, which is part of the USGenWeb Census project, is linked from the Erie County (PA) Genealogy web site, which is also part of the USGenWeb project, this reading can seldom be reached as apparently it is accessed through ftp on a server which is either very busy or has slow connections. In any case, as both the Census transcription project and the genealogy page are part of the same program, I would like to directly post the census reading in HTML (http://) so that researchers may have the benefit of this data all the time. 1. [PAERIE] Tons of New Data online!
    2. Mike
    3. Hi Folks, If you have not checked recently, there is tons of new data on the site, thanks to several contributors! Most of the new data is on the GenConnect sites. In the past 30 days, we have 69 new queries, 69 new obits for a total of 399, 544 new biographies for a total of 599! That must be some sort of record! PLUS, we have two new township hosts! I personally am excited to see such participation on the site. Bill and others are working to bring much more to the site in the near future. Check out the new Queries and see if you have some unknown cousins who have checked out the site! Thanks again! Revised the Concord Township page. Added introduction from Linda Emerson to the Union Township page and revised layout of that page. Also added several links to the Union Township page. Bill Klauk

    1. [PAERIE] Hutchinson postings
    2. Hello fellow listers.................. I have been trying to do my part to help fill in the Erie Co. databanks with some information. It's not much, but its what I have. I have posted 2 biographies, 1 Bible record and 1 obituary. Nothing at all like some of you others......:-) I also have some family pictures and some pictures from the Girard Cemetery, if I can just figure out how to copy them so they look good................ If there is something that I can help with like entering information, I'm willing to type. I'm in energy-challenged (!) Calif and too far away to help with lookups and such!! 1. [PAERIE] New Township coordinator - Concord Twp
    2. William Klauk
    3. Hello list, I am pleased to announce that Betty Matteson Rhodes has volunteered to also host Concord Township, in addition to Venango Township as previously announced. Betty has indicated that she lived 10 years in Corry after leaving Wattsburg and has quite a bit of information on Concord Twp. Betty will also 'keep me honest' with the new City of Corry page that I posted today. The two cities - Erie and Corry - have separate pages from the townships. Corry has several web sites, so I intend, with Betty's help, to make that page mostly a page of links, and for the time being am not listing a host, although we will see how that progresses. More later - taking a break to watch hockey tonight. Bill Klauk Co-Coordinator, Erie County (PA) Genealogy, USGenWeb/PAGenWeb Project Millcreek Township, Erie County, PA
