The NOC staff has built a new RAID and is in the process of backing everything up to the new raid. When this is completed they will put the server back online. Hopefully this will solve the problems we've been having with this server recently. No word on exactly when the server will be back online. We'll let you know when that happens. Hello! Am wondering if anyone could help me with some deed and probate searches in Erie County Court House. If you are able, would you please contact me privately. Thanks! Barb
Does anyone know if Ed who had the Erie County Naturalizations is still on the list or have his email address? Thank you! Barb
FYI to the list - GenConnect has reported that the servers hosting the query boards, obits, bios, bible records, deeds, etc. is currently not available. So if anyone is trying to post or look at queries or the related boards this evening, you may not be able to fo that. In most cases, it is returning Page Not Available, similar to a broken link. Hi, In reply to Dee's message, I found out about the Saturday (Feb. 3) get-together from Dee's previous message, and then contacted her directly for more information. I've also exchanged messages with Dick Garfield to learn more, and I look forward to meeting people at the Golden Corral in Kissimmee on Saturday. My mother grew up in Corry, and my surnames there are BRADT and POTTER. Grandfather Bradt was born in Jamestown, NY, and so that is an area I want to research, too. Thank you, Dee and Dick! Jane
Hi Dick Garfield just notified me about the Clymer / Corry Days in Kissimmee FL and I thought I would pass it on for any of the Snow birds in the area; who may like to attend Corry Days, is always the first Sat. in Feb. at the Golden Corral on Rt 192 (# 7702 W. Bronson Hwy) Kissimmee, Fl. Most alway have about 250 people show up from all around the Corry, Clymer and French Creek area, from about 11.00AM until, w/meeting around 1:00 - 1:30PM.
Fellow Researchers, This name of the cemetery listed above, was given to me in 1967 by the Erie Co. Historical Society & according to my map it is located just inside the eastern Waterford Township line. It appears to be near the intersection of Lowe Rd. and Valley Roads (further south, becomes the Juva Rd.). The cemetery lies behind be a little frame church. Have been there several times & have photographed my son in front of the church, as his ancestors Jacob Applebee & his wife Mary D. Peck are buried there along with a few other relatives. Perhaps someone can supply me with the lot number in that township. Hope this is a little helpful. Nancy M. Hello List, Let's have a warm welcome for another township volunteer, and I didn't recruit this one! Herb Kinney has asked to be the cordinator for Waterford Township. Please see Herb's introduction at the township page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~paerie/townships/Waterford.htm - I have also revised this page to meet the design I am using on other pages. Mike and I still need people for the far eastern and far western townships, plus a few in the middle. If any list member wants to jump at the opportunity to have your name in lights (not much work involved), then please drop me an e-mail. The Zing album at http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4293143207 has been updated with the addition of 7 scanned images (believe all from old post cards). Included is the Shrine Hospital, Soldiers & Sailors home, Dancing Pavillion at Waldemeer, Public Bathing Pool, Brig Niagara on State St, Fountain at Perry Sq and a before 1909 image of the road that goes down the hill from Front St (near Chestnut). Several other changes were made to the web site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~paerie with the adding of two other military links sopied from Mike's Cameron Co site, plus several links on the "Links" page. One, a link to Cyndi's List, was also added on the home page. Bill Klauk
As suggested by Sharon Dulcich and reinforced by Barb Seyler, the American Battle Monuments Commision site at http://www.usabmc.com/abmc4.htm which gives lists of war dead buried overseas, has been linked from the Erie County Military page. Bill Klauk Co-Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~paerie
As the 145th Regiment was primarily from Erie County, one noted exception being Company H from Crawford County, perhaps someone on the Erie list might be interested in the message from Pete Wilson posted to the PACRAWFO-L list. Well list, I got a message back from Cindy Snyder indicating that another list member did reply directly to her that "There is a Lake Pleasant Baptist Cemetery which is actually in Waterford Township at the intersection of Lowe and Dublin Roads. The earliest burial there was in 1873. It was closed in 1973, but I noticed a few 1990's burials there so I guess it is still in use." Would that person email me directly with any other details on this cemetery (if any) as we do not have it posted, and it is not on any of my 'working copy' lists. But then again, there are about 30 cemeteries that we don't have posted that I know the Genealogical Society has found. Bill Klauk
A member of the NYCHAUTA-L mail list is seeking information in Erie Co (PA) of a Robert H. Wiggins. Please reply directly to [email protected] if you have any information. I have already answered her with the only Wiggins in my phone book, and some other misc info. However, perhaps someone on this list has some information. Part of her message is forwarded. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leilani Spring" <[email protected]> To: "William Klauk" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 27, 2001 4:16 PM > Hello Bill, > I have been researching the descendants of one of my husband's ancestors, Darius > Spring, who was killed in the War of 1812. Sharon has a good idea! I contacted this Commission through the internet about a year ago and received information on a relative that is buried in Hawaii. We never knew that he was mentioned on any monuments because he was lost at sea and never recovered. Not only did they send a large (maybe 18"x18") photo of the overall monument, but a close up snap inserted in the corner showing the soldiers name, etc. This service cost me nothing. For a small fee, they will place flowers on the grave and send a photo as well. Definitely worth the try! Barb original message: Bill and list, Before anyone invests in this CD, may I recommend that they take a look at the US American Battle Monuments commission's website where over 230,000 war dead are listed from both World wars and the Korean War. Cynthia... Here's a great website where you can check for a number of things including the names of cemeteries in each county. From the dropdown menus, select only the State (Pennsylvania), Feature Type (cemetery) and type in the county name. When I ran this for Crawford, the query came up with 74 cemeteries but none of them with your name. http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html Good luck... Hello, Does anyone know if there is a Lake Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery Yard in Erie County? I have a few relatives there supposedly. Would this be located near Lake Pleasant, the skiing lodge? I had thought maybe it was in Crawford County, but was told by someone on the list that this cemetery is in Erie County, but I have not seen it on our cemeteries listing. Thank you, and God Bless, Cindy Snyder
