    1. [PAERIE] Web site change for Feb 2, 2001
    2. William Klauk
    3. For all of you not in the Erie area, winter returned today, immediately after the groundhog saw his shadow. It is about 10 degrees and we have had several inches of snow, refreezing the melting and recovering the clear ground. Friday's web site work for http://www.rootsweb.com/~paerie was the complete upload of all of the St. John's RC Church Baptismal data provide by Marion Fromkneckt. This baptismal data is around 500 names of just family members (its a big family!) from the period 1869 to 1908. The data is currently presented in tables covering 5 year periods. An energetic project for someone would be to make a name index of the data. As posted on the St. John's Baptismal Records introduction page, Marion is seeking someone to do proofreading, and/or someone to help her with actual visits to the church to transcribe other names. Church records can be a valuable source of early genealogical history. Anyone having access to records similar to what Marian has provided, no matter how small in number of records, please let me know. One other change was made to the site, and that is on the What's New page. As this page was getting long, I archived items from Sept - Dec 2000 to another page, with appropriate links. 1. [PAERIE] Web site updates - Jan 24-Feb 1
    2. William Klauk
    3. Hello list, I decided I better post all the changes to the site in the last week. Along with a great posting effort by Gaylene Kerr Banister to the Biographies board, and several great submissions from some dedicated volunteers, I did make a few updates to the site (mind you, just a few) - January 24 to February 1, 2001 Added a new Church Records section to the home page under Erie County Data. Added Newspaper Marriage Notices to the home page under Special Features but have not built a page for it yet. Added an index page for baptism records from St. John's RC Church that are being transcribed and submitted by Marian Fromkneckt. Started adding data pages but have only posted 1869-1874. Once these pages are added, it will be a major addition to the Erie Co (PA) Genealogy site. Added a new feature page on Faces of Erie County with a photo of one identified and one unidentified couple from the North East area circa 1910, as submitted by Tom Press. Made a major cosmetic revision to the Cemetery page. Added Lake Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery to Waterford list on the Cemetery page. Added two very small partial census from LeBoeuf Township, reprinted with permission from Linda Dill. Introduced and added Herb Kinney as township coordinator for Waterford Township. Updated the Old Time Photos Zing album maintained by Bill Klauk with 7 more pictures. Corrected the 1870 Mortality tables for Union based on updates from Linda Emerson and Barb Seyler. Linked the American Battle Monuments Commission site to the Military page as this site allows searches of overseas burials. Added link to Mike's Cameron Co page, a link to Cyndi's List, and links to the 4 neighbor counties to the home page. Added two additional links on the Military page from Mike's Cameron Co site. Probably did some more but can't think of anything else at moment. I have also started monitoring the Chautaqua, Crawford and Ashtabula mail lists, and you may have noted several messages forwarded to this list concerning Erie Co. Several of you who have submitted material are probably wondering where your pages or photos are - do not worry, I have them all lined up in e-mail folders and am slowly plugging away at them. 3. Ed: I have a question that the list may be interested in. I have read the two line excerpts of my immigrant ancestors' naturalizations in Erie County that I understand the WPA put together, but have not been able to determine where to go for the full copy of the certificate. Is the book you mention the one with just the excerpts, or does it have the full certificates? If not the full certificates, where can these be obtained (if they still exist)? Janet
