Hi Listers, We'll be heading up to Elk County on/about 8 - 10 October 2001. Researching my maternal line. Two things I want to accomplish: 1. Find grave site of George Madison and family - hopefully still where I was told they were, in the Mt Zion Cemetery, Caledonia. (also was told that church burned down years ago). 2. Find any/all documents relating to this family at the county court house and Historical Society Needing to know if the court house and historical society will be open and what their hours are (8 Oct is Columbus Day, celebrated). I have not been able to bring up the Historical Society web site for weeks now. http://users.penn.com/~elkhist/ Since I spent most summers when I was growing up in Ridgway it will be like going home. My Grandparents, Russell T & Irene Madison, used to live at 218 Metoxet Street. Both have since passed on. Does West Penn Power (if it still exists), where my Grandfather worked and retired (office on the St Mary's road from Ridgway), allow visitors and would they have any personnel records still on file? Unless another motel/hotel has moved into Ridgway, we'll probably be staying at the motel at the top of Boot Jack hill.
