Obituaries: Marjorie E. Kirkpatrick, 89, formerly of Kersey, Ridgway and Kane, died Saturday evening, January 5, 2002 at the Lutheran Home at Kane. She was born April 18, 1912 in Easton, daughter of the late Dr. Floyd C. and Arabella F. Case Sandt. On September 12, 1936 in Easton, she married Donald N. Kirkpatrick, who died in 1997. She was a school teacher and a librarian. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church in Kane and the Kane Garden Club. She was the last surviving member of her family. The Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In the Ruth Wickett obituary in Monday's newspaper, it should have stated she was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Mertz. Mary Eleanor Curley, 85, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, and formerly of 417 First Avenue, Johnsonburg, died Monday, January 7, 2002 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born April 10, 1916 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Leonard J. and Ella T. Brennan Healy. On March 4, 1942, she married Thomas C. Curley, who preceded her in death December 2, 1981. Mrs. Curley had resided in Johnsonburg most of her life, and was a graduate of Holy Rosary School, Johnsonburg High School, class of 1934, St. Vincent School of Nursing with certification in Pennsylvania and New York in 1937, and attended Penn State to attain a teaching certification. Mrs. Curley was a member of Holy Rosary Church, American Cancer Society, Elk Unit, Johnsonburg Community Chest/United Way, Catholic Daughters of America, CAPSEA, American Red Cross and Johnsonburg Ambulance Service. She was an avid traveler, having visited all 50 states and crossed the Atlantic 46 times and the Pacific 18 times to visit over 80 countries. She was a school nurse for the Johnsonburg School District for 26 years, retiring in 1986, and had previously been employed as supervisor of Elk County Psychiatric Unit. She is survived by a son, Joseph J. Curley; a grandson, Drew S. Curley, both of Indiana, PA. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, the Rev. Thomas L. Curley, C.SS.R.; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara J. Curley. There will be no visitation. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Mass for Mary Eleanor Curley at Holy Rosary Church, Wednesday at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
