    3. Obituaries: Thomas L. Zaleski, 51, of Peters Road, Ligonier, and formerly of St. Marys, died Saturday, January 5, 2002 at Presbyterian-University Hospital, Pittsburgh due to complications of liver failure. He was born February 15, 1950 in St. Marys, son of the late Irvin M. and Josephine Parziale Zaleski. Mr. Zaleski was a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, class of 1968. He then attended Penn State School of Business Administration. Most recently he served as a bus driver. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. During his younger years, he was a champion archer having started under the direction of his father at the St. Marys Archery Club. He enjoyed his faithful companion, a two-year-old Golden Lab, Sara. He is survived by a brother, Irvin "Skip" Zaleski Jr. of Spartanburg, SC; a sister, JoAnne (Mrs. Thomas) Gari of Richboro; five nephews; a niece; two great nephews; and three great nieces. He was preceded in death by his father on December 11, 1980; and his mother July 30, 1998. There will be no visitation. Relatives and friends of Thomas L. Zaleski are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church Saturday at 10 a.m. with Father Ananias, O.S.B., as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Force. The Lynch-Green Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Richard E. Boroi, 67, of 340 Coal Hollow Road, Kersey, died Saturday evening, January 12, 2002 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness. He was born August 27, 1934 in Ridgway, son of the late Quintillo and Naomi Lindenmuth Boroi. Mr. Boroi retired in 1996 from Stackpole and Car-bone Carbon after 47 years of service. He was a member of the Quarter Century Cub of Stackpole. On October 1, 1955 in Guardian Angel Church, Coal Hollow, he married Marie Cavallett, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mary Ann (Mrs. Samuel) Nichols of St. Marys, Cathy (Mrs. Richard) Swanson of Toby, and Barb Boroi of St. Marys; six grandchildren, Travis, Roger, Shad and Brandi Nichols, and Tracy and Steve Swanson; two brothers, Bernard Boroi of Brookhaven, and Gerald Boroi of Kersey; two sisters, Rosalie (Mrs. Robert) Wonderly of Toby, Shirley Fredrickson of Kersey; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Naomi Clark Boroi. Funeral services for Richard E. Boroi will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William Beatty officiating. Burial will follow in Park-lawn Memorial Gardens, Ridgway. Ruth J. Benninger, 91, of Pinecrest Manor, and formerly of 206 North St. Marys Street, died Saturday, January 12, 2002 at the manor. She was born July 24, 1910 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Thomas A. and Katherine Kriegel Jacob. On October 26, 1935, she married Sylvester Ben-finger, who preceded her in death December 20, 1963. Mrs. Benninger was a lifelong resident of St. Marys, and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She attended St. Marys schools and retired in 1974 from Stackpole Carbon after 38 years of service. She is survived by a brother, William Jacob of Ridgway; four sisters, Monica Piccolo, Ethel (Mrs. James) Lecker, Mirium Gump, and Vale-ria Murray, all of St. Marys; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Jacob and Helen Salter; and a brother, Leo T. Jacob. A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth J. Ben-finger will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Tuesday at 2 p.m., with Father Ananias, O.S.B., as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1-1:30 p.m. James F. Gerber, 80, of 313 John Street, St. Marys, died Friday evening, January 11, 2002 at Elk Regional Health Center. He was born November 23, 1921 in St. Marys, son of the late Andrew and Bertha Herzing Gerber. Mr. Gerber was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of 1940. He also attended Bliss Academy and Catholic University, where he received specialty training in electronics. He was an employee of the Stackpole Corporation, retiring in 1986 after 45 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and was a veteran of WWH, having served in the Army in the Pacific Theatre. He was discharged in 1946. He was also a member of the VFW, American Legion and the CMF. On August 12, 1950 in St. Boniface Church, he married Violet Poinnelli, who survives. Also surviving ,are a daughter, Judie Gerber Maholtz and her husband, John, of Irwin; three sons, Don Gerber and his wife, Connie, of Denver, CO, Ken Gerber and his wife, Cathy, of Wilcox, Jack Gerber and his wife, Chris, of Springville, NY; nine grandchildren, Tim Gerber and his wife, Tracy, Angela, Matthew, Jessica, Hannah, Stephanie Gerber, Danielle, Ryan, and Eric Maholtz; two sisters, Dorothy Tucker of St. Marys, Celine Singer of Emporium; and a brother, Othmar "Bud" Gerber of Niagara Falls, NY In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Cotter; and two brothers, Francis and Robert Gerbet Mass of Christian Burial for James F. Gerber will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church Tuesday at noon, with Father Ananias, O.S.B., as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail. Visitation will be at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home tonight from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Births: Daughter to Tracy and Alan Schneider of Kersey on Saturday, January 12, 2002. Daughter to Linda and Joseph Bankovich of St. Marys on Thursday, January 10, 2002. Weddings/Engagements: Danielle Dawn Tyger became the bride of Billie Jo Wolfe in a recent ceremony held at Shiloh Presbyterian Church in St. Marys. Reverend William Milligan officiated the ceremony. Edwin Schwer was the pianist. The bride was given in marriage by her father and was lovely in a long white gown. She chose her friend, Deanna Wilhelm, as the maid of honor. Her sister-in-law, Angie Tyger, along with friends of the bride, Heather Dreier and Carisa Coppolo, were the bridesmaids. The groom chose his brother, Wesley Wolfe, as the best man. Robert Tyger, brother of the bride; Max Wolfe, cousin of the groom; and friend of the groom, Byron Mohr, were groomsmen. Out-of-town guests were in attendance from Carlisle, Kersey, Warren, Indiana, Punxsutawney, State College, and Brockway. The bride is a 1997 graduate of St. Marys Area High School and a 2001 graduate of Clarion University of PA where she received a bachelors in elementary education. The groom is a 1997 graduate of St. Marys Area High School and received an associate degree in avionics system technology from the Community College of the Air Force. He is working on a bachelors in electronics engineering and is currently a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force, stationed at Holloman AFB in New Mexico. The bride is the daughter of Jamie and Mary Lou Tyger of Hemlock Road, St. Marys. The groom is the son of Byron Wolfe of Lecker Road, St. Marys and Joan Prince of Warren.
