MARYS - According to the article in the Tri-County Sunday, the City of St. Marys Police Department has a suspect in the Irene Challingsworth homicide investigation. Challingsworth was found murdered in her residence at 213 Walnut Street on April 6, 1999. Obituaries: Ruth M. Wickett, 71, of 234 Martin Road died Saturday morning at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born November 21, 1930 in Daguschonda, daughter of the late Anthony and Charlotte Bush Mertz. Mrs. Wickett was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. She was a former employee of Powdered Metal Products, retiring in 1992 after 20 years of service. She was a member of Queen of the World Church and the CMF Auxiliary. On October 28, 1949 in Morgantown, WV, she married Floyd J. "Pinky' Wickett, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Mary Ann (Mrs. Fred) Giddings of Smethport, Carol Parisi of St. Marys, Diane (Mrs. James) Christoff of Clay, NY, and Lisa (Mrs. George) Salter of St. Marys; a son, Floyd J. Wickett Jr. of Ridgway; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Mertz of St. Marys; and two brothers, Anthony and Walter Mertz, both of St. Marys. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Wickett and Laurie Long; three sisters, Gladys Wurm, Dolores Lecker, Rosina Himes; four half sisters, Mary Smith, Regina Goodwin, Anna Alsterberg and Katherine Mertz; six brothers, Alfred, Merle, James, Michael, Harold and Robert Mertz; and a half brother, Harry Mertz. A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth M. Wickett will be celebrated in Queen of the World Church Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., with the Rev. Leon Hont, O.S.B., as celebrant. Burial will follow in St.. Marys Cemetery. Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral ! Home tonight from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Births: None Weddings/Engagements: On November 24, 2001, at Weedville Wesylyn Church, Tina Kunes and Keith Sorg were united in : marriage by Rev. Gerald Poole. Music was provided by Charlene Warmbrodt and Charlotte Gerg. Tina is the daughter of: Butch and Connie Kunes of: Weedville. Keith is the son of Dolores and the late Henry Sorg of Ridgway. She chose her sister Trudy Bauer of Lancaster for her matron of honor. For her bridesmaids, she chose Denise Johnson of Ridgway, sister of the groom, her sisters Tracy Earnst of Boiling Springs and Trisha Padasak of St. Marys, and Suanne Sorg of Ridgway, sister of the groom. Tina chose her niece, Morgan Earnst of Boiling Springs and the groom's niece Elizabeth Johnson of Ridgway, as flower girls. Keith chose the bride's brother, Todd Kunes of St. Marys as his best man. The ushers were David Johnson of Ridgway, brother-in-law of the groom, Randy Earnst of Boiling Springs, Jon Padasak of St. Marys, and Brian Bauer of Lancaster, all brothers-in-law of the bride. The bride's and groom's helpers were Matthew Dauber of Johnsonburg, Melissa and Michael Smith of St. Marys, and Derek Eamst of Boiling Springs. The reception was held in the Central Fire Hall in Ridgway with 300 guests in attendance. Out-of-town guests traveled from Virginia, Maryland, California, Pittsburgh, Florida, New Hampshire, New York, and Ohio. The bride attended the University of Pittsburgh for Nursing, and is employed with the Ridgway Community Nurses. The groom is employed at Metaldyne. Tina and Keith Sorg reside at 601 Willard St. in Ridgway.
