Nissel, 91, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 147 Wehler Road, died Wednesday at the nursing home following a brief illness. > She was born March 19, 1905 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Charles and Eva Wilhelm Nissel. > She attended St. Marys schools, was a former beautician and was an employee of Stackpole Carbon Co., retiring in 1970 after 23 years of service. She was a member of Queen of the World Church. > She is survived by a son-in-law, Harold 0. Feldbauer of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Cyndi Poe of Nevada, Thomas H. Feldbauer of St. Marys and John M. Feldbauer of St. Marys; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. > In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Pauline Feldbauer on March 16, 1998; three sisters, Esther Reider, Hilda Hammer and, in infancy, Edna Nissel; and seven brothers, Alfred, Norbert, Charles, Valery, Arnold and Jim Nissel and, in infancy, Walter Nissel. She was the last member of her immediate family. > A Mass of Christian Burial for Caroline E. Nissel will be celebrated in Queen of the World Churchat noon. Burial will follow in St. Marys cemetery. > Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home tonight from 7-9 o'clock. > > Norman Erickson, Funeral and committal services were held Monday, January 14 in Emporium for Norman Erickson, 86, of Prospect Park, Emporium who died Friday January 11 at Elk Regional Health Center. > He was born September 17, 1915 in Warren, son of the late Amil and Anna Goetlieb Erickson. On August 21, 1941 in Erie, he married Frances Smock, who survives. > Mr. Erickson was a graduate of Warren High School and had attended Edinboro State College. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Warren, and a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. > He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European Theatre with General George Patton's Third Army 80th Infantry Division, and the 317th Anti-tank Company from 1943-1946. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and was decorated with five battle stars, two bronze stars, a Purple Heart and a combat infantry badge. > He was a graduate of the Game Commission Training School and was assigned district game protector for Cameron County, serving in that position for 33 years. He owned and operated the Erickson Christmas Tree Farm. > In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Eric Erickson of Emporium; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Janet Ryberg of Warren. > He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lee Erickson in 1999; a sister; and a brother. > > In the Margaret Walker obituary, which ran in yesterday's newspaper, it should have listed Rita (Mrs. R. Thomas) Valentine, St. Marys, as a surviving sister, not Mrs. Richard Valentine, as the funeral home submitted. > Births: > A son was born to Troy and Beverly Emmert, of Watsontown, PA, on Tuesday, January 8. Jared was 8 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 21 1/2 inches.
