    3. My gg grandmother was Sarah Elizabeth Hanes born 11/13/1851 or 1854 in Rathbun, PA - she is a definite brick wall. Today I searched some old messages in Cameron County site, however, and saw a glimmer of hope!! There was a reprinting of a story from 1913 Elk Co. newspaper (posted by Dee) as told by Joseph Hanes about an incident in 1857 about his father and his brother Jacob (story regarding elk) and I'm hoping that someone might know more about that Hanes family. Sarah Hanes married Joseph M. Friedl (oldest son of John Friedl and Kunigunda Wittman) in Emporium 2/25/1873 or 1874; they had 9 children, some born Rathbun as well. Supposedly Sarah was born a Cole, but was raised by the Hanes family. I had information from one census lookup showing a Sarah Cole age 19 in Shippen Township, which would be the right age, but don't know where Shippen Township was/is, and the lookup didn't give me anyone else in household. Her marriage cert lists her name as Hanes - I have heard sometimes they just raised another kid without official adoption, etc.(?). She was baptized in 1899 at approx. age 48 and don't know previous faith, which would help as far as other Hanes cemetery records I would guess. My other names (all St. Marys) are Wickett, Geitner, Bauer, Zitzler, Kennard (this name also Oil City, Bradford prior to St. Marys). Any comments/suggestions re: Hanes/Cole or others, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Theresa
