Hello Sharol, these are the German 'Umlauts'. ä -> ae ö -> oe ü -> ue ß -> ss The same for the capital letters. You should have this umlauts in your fontset, but you have to access them via the special characters function of word or you have to use the code-value (ALT-nnn). See the message of Paula.
