    1. [PAELK] Old map
    2. bcarter
    3. I have a map dated 1951 entitled God's Country, Pennsylvania's Last Frontier, Showing places of historic interest, towns, roads, streams, mountains, and other things enjoyed by the outdoorsman. As I looked at it I realized there were lots of names and dates that might mean something to someone, so I decided to post them along with a general idea of where on the map the information was located. It is not a road map showing county borders etc., but more like a schematic drawing of the area and seems to encompass the counties of Clearfield, Elk, Cameron, eastern Jefferson, and western Clinton. For that reason, I am sending this to all those county lists. There is no more information than what I have listed, but I will be glad to answer questions if something needs clarified. Hope this helps someone. Beverly Carter bcarter2@wi.rr.com Reynoldsville; George SMITH 1827-1901 Wolf and panther hunter. Killed 500 wolves McGee's Mills; first raft. So kind of you to try helping me. Have I told you a genealogical researcher in Texas helped me to find Carl Victor Larson in 1910 and 1920 census? In 1910 he was living in Jones township Elk County as a laborer working in the wood. He was 30 years old than and a single. Also found him in 1920 census, hope so, now 41 years old, living in Ridgway and working at a brick yard in Ridgway. The writer of the census has marked his address as METOXET STREET. Do you have any idea of any records of people living on that street in 1920?? The Carl Victor´s landlord was a Swedish Carlson-family, I think the name is John and his wife is Augusta. Their children is daughter Hilma and sons Harry, William and Arthur. They owned their home, and in the census column "House number or farm etc (see instructions)" is marked 322. 1. [PAELK] Entries from docket of Peter Thompson, J.P.
    2. Sherry
    3. I recently had the pleasure of paging through one of the dockets of Peter Thompson, Justice of the Peace for Fox Township in Elk County, PA from at least 1849- 1873. I came across some rather interesting entries (quite a bit of fighting way back then!), but the entries that I found most intriguing were the bastardy bonds sworn out by those young women of Fox Twp who found themselves pregnant and unmarried against the fathers of the babies that they carried. Realizing that this could change the entire complexion of someone's Fox Township family tree, I thought it might be a good idea to make this information available to those who were researching these families. But due to the sensitive nature of these entries, I am asking that you ~~e-mail me privately~~ for the info, and ONLY if you have a genuine interest in and are researching the families involved. Those involved are (in no particular order): MALES Patrick Malone David Pontious Adam Miller of St. Marys, PA FEMALES Catherine Dollinger Anna Kemmerer Emma Keller

    1. [PAELK] Book about St. Marys
    2. Sherry
    3. Several of you had asked a month or so ago about a new book to be published about St. Marys. On the front page of the Daily Press tonight is some info about this book, so I will pass it on in case someone wants to order a copy. You need to get in touch with The Daily Press to order the book-- 245 Brusselles Street, St. Marys, PA 15857. 814-781-1539. The advance price of the book, called Reflections of St. Marys, is $31.75, tax included. After October 26, the price will be $42.35 tax included. It is explained in the article that if you want a book, it is best to pre-order as very few copies will be available for those who neglected to reserve a copy. It is apparently a pictorial history of St. Marys and some of it's people, not a written history. The books will be available in time for Christmas. If you have any other questions, you would be best off to contact The Daily Press at the number given above. Thanks! Sherry
