Joseph was styled of Manor twp when he made his will in 1756, and thus seems more logically to have been the father of the John Steman/Stainman/Steinman/Stoneman who was of Manor twp when he made his own will in 1792. That John named his eldest son Joseph. The John (or Hans) who d. 1766 was styled of Conestoga twp, and in his will named a son Peter among other children. Thus he seems more likely to have been the Hans Steman, age 21, who accompanied Peter Steman, age 26, and another Hans Steman, age 49, on the ship Hope arriving at Philadelphia in 1733. It seems likely that the two younger men were sons of the older Hans. The Stayman/Stehman/Steinman/Steman/Stoneman/etc. family is one of a number of Lancaster co. families covered in my book *Stayman-McCrosky Ancestry* nearing completion. Details at the URL below.
