I visited he MO archives in Columbia, MO while on a vacation trip. We always plan a few days at variuos genealogical sites. We live in Las Vegas, NV. While researching in MO I got interested in the Mormon War as I had Missouri an cesters who were involved on the Missouri side and who also served with Quantrill in the Civil War. The Missouri State Historical Society has a publication titled Missouri Newspapers on Microfilm. It is about a inch thick. It is a great source for obits and small town news of a hundred years ago or more. I think it only costs about $15. State Historical Society of Missouri 1020 Lowry Street Columbia, MO 65201-7298 That should be a good source for those searching Missouri. The county Histories are not very accurate as they were a writers project for pay. You could also pay to have your name included, It was a matter of who could produce the best bragging rites. I read one where a fellow was a direct descendent of Commodor John Paul Jones. The problem is Jones is a added alias to Paul and he was a batchelor. Be careful with county histories. I know a lot of Breteren on MO were Dunkards. My Chaetham family went from VA to MO and were Dunkards in MO. I do not know how close that relationship is to the bretheren. Chas. Musser
