    3. I have just joined the list and am looking for my Holman family members. I have only been able to get back to the end of the 1700's in Coosa County, Alabama. I have some hints going to the Carolinas but nothing solid. I have an older relative who relates the following information: "Our original Holmans came from Holland with the name spelled HOLEMANN, and they lived in Pennsylvania. She goes on to say her ggggrandfather(?) was known as a BLACK PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH, because of his dark hair, eyes and skin (not black). He also changed the name to HOLMAN." I wonder if anyone might have some sort of information or be able to point me towards a source of information. Here is the family of my ggggrandfather in Coosa County: John HOLMAN b. 1780 d. 1840 m.
