Posted on: Pennsylvania Dutch Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Dutch?read=4873 Surname: Schaeffer, Lorisch, Straw ------------------------- I am researching a Schaeffer line that originated in Berks and Centre Counties, and migrated to Germantown, Montgomery Co., Ohio around 1804, although some came as late as 1815. There is a book on the Schaeffer lineage at the Germantown library, and I have copied some pages. Apparently, some people think this research may be flawed, combining two families and several names. I don't know where to look next. My Gr Gr Gr Gr Gr grandparents were Peter Schaeffer and Catherine Straw. They were married in 1810, Centre Co. Peter died in 1864 in Germantown, Ohio, and Catherine died in 1884 in Germantown. Research, as well as this book, has led me to believe that the parents of this Peter Schaeffer were Peter Schaeffer Sr. and Catherine Lorisch. Peter Sr.'s father was George Schaeffer and Katherine Reib. His siblings were Elizabeth (m. John Beiber) Margaret (m. Dewalt Beiber) Maria (m. Michael Christman) and Philip. Other research is now leading to the husband of Catherine Lorisch being Johan Georg Schaeffer, not Peter Schaeffer Sr. This is getting so confusing! His children would be Jacob, Catharine (m. Philip Gunckel), Michael, Peter (the "Jr" who married Cathering Straw, John, Henry, Gertrude (m. John Boyer) and Mary (m. David Pressler). I don't know where to look next, all of my research leads both ways. Any suggestions? There are so many Peters, Johans, Georg, etc. Any tips or suggestions appreciated. This book I found does mention a Philip who married Elizabeth Feterolf, and some other names mentioned as well. Thanks for any advice, I'm sorry this is so long and confusing!
