I have quite a number of new clues about the identity of my Henry Wagner of Reading. I hope to have even more when I get my information properly digested. Henry Wagner was in Reading by 1789, I guess; I haven't yet found the records of the baptisms of most of his children though I'm sure I've seen them before. He also was called Heinrich Wagner, and Henrich Wagner. It isn't inconceivable his name often had a first name in front of it. Susanne, probably his last child, was born to Henrich and Elizabeth Wagner in 1784, and baptized 3/27/1796. (I must have copied that wrong; I don't know if this really happened in the 1780;s or 1790's) The sponsors were John Wagner and Suzanne. Barbara, who is my direct ancestor, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Wagner, was b on 14 Mar 1775 - and not necessarily in Reading. Wherever a Barbara Wagner, may have been ____ Barbara Wagner, since call name is second name, was b on 14 Mar 1775 would be where Henry and Elizabeth Wagner lived at that time. Johann Wagner (John) and Susanne his wife had a child Susanne bapt 11/29/1798 in Rading, Fist Reformed. So Henry (Heinrich, Henrich) Wagner who married Elizabeth and lived in Reading had a close relative, probably brother, Johannes (John) Wagner who married Susanne and lived in Reading or very nearby. Does this help anyone pin down who was Henry Wagner? There are other clues; particularly, close family ties to the Jung's and to Frantz Ritter and his wife Barbara. Paul Jung son of Christina and ____ Jung, b 11/9/1781 bap 8/24/1782, Schwarzwald, sponsors were Henrich and Elizabeth Wagner. Samuel Ritter, son of Frantz Ritter and his wife (who was Barbara), bapt 4/7/1793, Schwarzwald, sponsor Henrich Wagner. Sarah Seidel dau Nicholas Seidel and wife, bapt 3/18/1798, sponsors Frantz Ritter and wife Barbara. also sponsors of Nicholas and wife's daughter Sarah Seidel. Hannah Jensen dau Jacob and Eva Jensen, b 5/16/1799 bapt 8/11/1799, sponsors John Wagner and Elizabeth (?) Friedans Union Ch. Jacob Jensen seems to have been closely related to Christopher Jensen and Marina Lutz. Because baptismal sponsors usually were family members of the parents, these are usually clues to family membership and kinship. Can anyone find what Wagners were tied to the Frantz Ritter and Paul Jung families? Yours, Dora Smith __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
