Hi Sheila and List Members I so appreciated your doing a lookup in your PA.German marriages book last week for my ggg grandparents, Jeremiah SMITH and Rowena or Regina ARNOLD (all I knew was that their daughter, Maria / Mariah was born in Berks Co. in 1824). You found no SMITH / ARNOLD marriage at all, but I have received some information that could be a breakthrough. An ARNOLD researcher wrote to say that in Berks Co. records, the name ARNOLD is spelled "ERMOLD," apparently the original German spelling for many Berks Co. ARNOLD families. Also, after you did the lookup, it occurred to me that Jeremiah SMITH's name could have originally been SCHMIDT or SCHMITT. Shelia, I would be tremendously grateful if you could look again to see if any ERMOLDs or ARNOLDs married, SCHMIDTs, SCHMITTs or SMITHs. Because this was a German family and Jeremiah, Rowena/Regina and Maria/Mariah could be middle names, I'm not sure if they would be listed in records under those given names. Thank you so much for your kindness in doing lookups for all of us. I am also sending this e-mail to the Lancaster and Chester Co. lists, because I believe Berks County was formed from parts of those two counties. With warm regards, Cathy Marti ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access!
