Carolyn, There are two societies that specialize in helping research German, and German-speaking ancestors: Mid-Atlantic Germanic Society: www.rootsweb.com/~usmags/ and Palatines to America: www.palam.com Both have meetings where speakers tell you how and where to find info, and libraries that members can borrow material from that is not available in most libraries. Also, your local Family History Center will have info to help you get started with researching your German ancestors.
