Revolution. The Great Valley of Virginia settlement. Much of the impetus for this was trying to get away from the young revolutionary hotheads in PA who were roughing up those who would not pledge allegiance to the new gov't of PA. Dunkers, et al, would not take oaths. My Kingerys, Hickmans, Witters move during this wave. They then moved out of VA to the area around Dayton, Ohio on both side of the IN/OH border when these "Congress lands" were opened up to settlement in the first years of the 1800's. Counties such as Preble, Butler, Montgomery, and Greene in Ohio received this migration, and Dearborn, Franklin, Union, in Indiana. The latter was still Indiana Territory when my ancestors moved out there in 1805/06, and all Dearborn Co. Ohio of course became a state in 1803.
