Posted on: Pennsylvania Dutch Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Dutch?read=5020 Surname: Singleton, Platt, Ashton, Roberts, housekeeper ------------------------- I found Elizabeth Housekeeper in the home of Jonah Platt, Beaver co. Pa age 10, 1860 census. She was my g-grandmother. I am trying to find her family. She stated in some military records that she married my g-grandfather under the name Elizabeth Platt. His name was also changed during the civil war and he may have given a fake name at time of capture but he said he married Eliz. under the name Robert Singleton near New Brighton, Pa Nov. 1866. There is a strong German missionary connection, seeing he was born in Tn. yet ended up in Harmony Pa after the Mennonites bought the land the Economites once owned. He and Elizabeth also ended up in Tidioute,Pa in 1872 and the Economites had strong business and economic ties there. It is all very confusing to me but I feel sure it has to do with German missionaries and people of English Title. Thanks Barb
