Posted on: Pennsylvania Dutch Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Dutch?read=5097 Surname: TROUP, BENNER ------------------------- Seeking any info regarding a Mennonite/Anabaptist migration from Pennsylvania to Welland County, Ontario, Canada circa the late 1790s to early 1800s. My great-grandfather, Henry H. TROUP (12 Nov 1839-14 Feb 1911), was born in Welland Co., ONT. His parents, Benjamin TROUP (b: 1798) and Mary BENNER (b: 1802), moved to Welland Co. from PA sometime between 1798 and 1825. Apparently this move was made with other PA families and may have been part of an organized migration. At age 13 (1852?), Henry and his family moved to Elkhart, Indiana. Is anyone aware of the exact timeframe and circumstances of the PA to ONT migration(s), PA Mennonite group/church involved, or counties/region of PA where the migration(s) may have originated from? I'm trying to narrow the geographical area in PA in which to focus my research and obtain info on Benjamin TROUP and Mary BENNER. Of course, any specific info regarding Benjamin TROUP and/or Mary BENNER would also be greatly appreciated.
