Land in Ohio was the first "homestead" land given out by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) shortly after the American Revolution. Some of it was given free to religious people with the purpose of bringing their religion to the native American Indians of Ohio, some land was given as bounty awards for military service, some was sold. A search on the internet may provide more information and accuracy. Possibly some of this land was taken by the STAUFFER/STAFFORD families of early Pennsylvania. Good luck, Elida Descendent of Hans STAUFFER, 1710 emigrant to Philadelphia County. ----- Original Message ----- From: D.
