If you have more info on her or her parents, etc. please send to me or post! thanks so much, crystal Reading Eagle online Obituaries for July 19, 2005 Gertrude T. Mann<> Gertrude T. Mann, 72, Boyertown, died July 17 in Pottstown Medical Center. She was the wife of Bennie W. Mann Sr. Born in Peak, S.C., she was a daughter of the late June Sr. and Ruby (Suber) Tobias. Mann had been employed for more than 22 years by the Pottstown School District, teaching elementary students at Rupert Elementary School, retiring in 1990. She was twice awarded Teacher-of-the-Year in Pottstown. She previously taught for 12 years at Booker T. Washington Elementary School, Newport News, Va. Mann was a 1951 graduate of Drayton High School, Newberry, S.C.; received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Allen University, Columbia, S.C. in 1955; and completed additional courses at Penn State and Lehigh universities. She was a member of Pine Forge Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she was a deaconess for many years and served on the board of the Pine Forge Seventh-Day Adventist Elementary School. Mann was also a volunteer tutor at the church, vacation Bible school and Sabbath school teacher. She was also a former member of the Allegheny East Conference K-12 school board. She is also survived by two sons, H. Dave, Pottstown, and Bennie W. Jr., Upton, Calif. Other survivors include a sister, Valeria (Tobias) Hundley, Newport News; and two brothers, June Tobias Jr., Laurinburg, N.C., and Eddie Lee Richard Tobias, Columbia, S.C. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Pine Forge Seventh-Day Adventist Church. DeBaptiste Funeral Homes Inc., West Chester and Bryn Mawr, is in charge of arrangements.
