Found interesting stuff in the new On Line data base for the state of Arizona. Best: it's free. A good search engine. Be careful to check that the county doesn't stray from ALL and spoil your search. If you click on a particular name, the certificate itself will come up in the next window, in of course the lousey handwriting of the time. To check your names comprehensively, at the very least replace every vowel with every other vowel. Try also some creative spelling, like replacing the B with a V, the Y with a J. http://genealogy.az.gov/index.htm I have no idea if the Boyer names below are originally from PA, but it is a name I look for. My GGGrandfather George Manhart was born in Baden; he married Anna. His children, Mary Elizabeth (July, 1852), Emma (about 1854), George (about 1856), Rebecca (November, 1859?), Susanna (January, 1860?), John (about 1861), and Jacob (about 1864) were all born in Pennsylvania. The name was given as Mannherz in the German church records in Missouri, where they were in the 1870 census. From the birth dates of the children, they must have been in Pennsylvania in 1860. I have been unable to find them in either the book indexes and microfilms or in the every-name index on-line at the library. I have tried every spelling and misspelling I can think of. I suppose that it is possible, but not likely, that they lived near the Pennsylvania border in an adjoining state and Anna went to her parents' house to have each! child. Any suggestions will be welcome. I don't know where else to look. I have information on the descendents that I would be happy to share. Thanks for any help, Alison mcintyr@uakron.edu

They made me leave! --- Hi, Georgia- No one made you leave--obviously you are still here. It isn't a matter of getting nasty about it. It is just that there are three PA Dutch lists--each working together and each with its own subject matter that is on-topic for that list. Some folks prefer to have genealogy only (this list), other prefer a list where all things PA Dutch are discussed but subject matter is kept to PA Dutch subjects (Penna-Dutch) and other prefer a list that is PA Dutch-centered but which is very open and loose and most topics are allowed (PADUTCH-Life). Some of us like them all and subscribe to them all. Something for everyone--all working together. Actually the "Snitz" post was posted to the PA Dutch Message Board gatewayed to this list--which is for genealogy only as are all of the Message Boards. Joan, co-admin

These guys get a bit testy when you ask questions like that here... They made me leave! However, there is a group, PADUTCH-LIFE-L-request@RootsWeb.com (just put subscribe in the subject) that is the funniest, most cheerful, MOST helpful group I've ever run into, and they just LOVE questions like this. They have silly discussions, and very practical serious discussions, and we all learn a lot! (My husband says we all have too much fun.) I've been hanging around them for just a few months and would miss them terribly if I had to quit. Try it! All: I have been using Genetic Genealogy as a tool for 3 years to research the Kerchner clans in the USA. See link below my name. I have been tested by the Sorenson project. They will test you for free to add your data to their database but they will not tell you your own personal results. They do not give participants the results of the test even though you are helping them build a world-wide database. It is all explained in the details at the site. "http://smgf.org/". So if you sign up for this "free" Sorenson Genetic Genealogy project be aware of that.
