Surnames: EARHART, ERHARD, AIRHEART, RAMSOWER, RAMSOUR Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3dB.2ACI/5999.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: My Peter Erhard/Earhart arrived in Philadelphia in Aug of 1750. On the same ship was Dietrick Erhard. I think (although I have no proof) that they were related possibly brothers or cousins. They were not father and son. Both Peter and Dietrick went first to Lancaster Co. and then Bucks Co. Dietrick remained in Bucks Co., but Peter Earhart is in Paradise Township, York Co. (tax records) in 1762 and 1769. Peter and Sophie had a son, Peter, baptised in St Matthew's Lutheran Church, Hanover, York Co. on 15 Jan 1764. Then Peter Ehrhard was a witness at the baptism of Anna Maria Kramer daughter of Lorenz and Anna Maria Kramer, in Sep 1770 at Friedensaal Lutheran Church, York Co. PA. There are no records for a Peter Erhard/Earhart in York Co. after 1770 until the 1790s and this Peter is a different Peter (yours?) as my Peter went to Cumberland County where his sons are listed in military records there in 1776-1781. In 1782, Franklin County was formed from a part of Cumberland Cou! nty and the land Peter owned was now in Franklin Co. Peter died there sometime previous to May 1787. I do have a very faint and hard to read copy of "Evidences of Ehrharts in York Co PA to 1850" and am familiar with the Ehrhart families in York in the 1700s. I have looked for a connection between these York Co. Erhards and my Peter, but couldn't find any. I have a genealogy web site that has a lot of information on my Earharts/Erhards. We have pretty well sorted out the early Ehrharts there in York Co. Do you have a copy of the document done in the 1940s called EHRHART REPORT -Evidences of Ehrharts in York Co PA to 1850? My own Peter Ehrhart b York Co 1788 was in eastern PA 1820, OH 1830 & IN 1840 where my grampa Jacob was b 1838. Hope to hear from you on your Peter!. E. Bennett

    1. Connection between Brubaker, Bartle, and Hall??
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Brubaker, Bartle, Hall Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3dB.2ACI/6140 Message Board Post: I just began researching my father's side of the family, and I found a paper describing a woman named Barbara Bartle (b. ~ 1775 in Lancaster, PA). Essentially it said she was of German descent, her mother being Christiana Bartle, her father's name was Andrew. Barbara Bartle had an interesting childhood, as she was kidnapped by Indians and then held prisoner by the British in Detroit. After this ordeal (her sister, Wilhelmena (14) died during this incarceration), Barbara came back to Lancaster, PA and married a man by the name of Jacob Brubaker in 1796. Jacob is the son of Joseph Brubaker and Elizabeth Downer, who were married in 1764. Jacob and Barbara had 2 children (3 according to the Mormon website...) Joseph, who first married Rachel Frederick and then also married Sarah Meetch later on, and Jacob, born in 1800. Phew...got all that? Anyways, what I want to know is if anyone would have a connection to these people and if they do, do you have a Hall in your family tree. I ! am trying to make the connection, and it isnt seeming obvious to me. Its actually very interesting to me because i had no idea i had any Pennsylvania Dutch in me and i live right here in Lancaster, PA! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!

    1. Re: [PDGO] Lancaster
    2. Dear Joan: Lancaster, PA, is in Lancaster County, PA. For future reference, at Wal-Mart you can find a Rand McNally Atlas book for the entire USA and Canada. One has to look very carefully to find them, especially in populated areas, but county lines are drawn on all these maps, in either light green or light blue, and the county name is also printed within the boundaries. Hope this helps you in the future. Allan E. Green (with Lancaster Co., Mennonite ancestors)

    3. Would some kind soul be willing to tell me what County in Pa Lancaster is located in? I think I might have a break thru in my brick wall if this all pan's out. According to my aunt Marjorie, who is my mother's youngest sister and daughter to David Schwartz this is where he was born in 1856. Other than that I don't know to much about him. But this is what I do know. 1. Dark skinned 2. Tall over 6' 3. talked both high and low German 4. early in life was a stone mason and traveled from place to place a lot 5. Married before he met my grandmother Nora Wheeler of Allegany, Catt. Co. NY 6. His first marriage was to May Say/Mae/Sae ( not exactly sure of Spelling). Two children were from that marriage that I am aware of Mouvinta or Vinta born about Oct. 1777 or 78 in Oil City, Clarion Co. Married twice once at age 14 later at age 21. Gerald, don't know when his date of birth was or when he died. But do know it was after his marriage to Nora Wheeler in 1885. And it had to be around very early 1900 as my Aunt Mary took care of him when he broke his back working for the RR. Mary was born in Feb. 1886 in Ulysses. 7. May Say I know nothing about and I am guessing that she may have either left him because he was gone so much or she died in childbirth. 8. After Nora and David were married they had 7 children and lived in and around Hector, Ulysses, Bingham and possibly other towns in Potter Co. 9 David died in Coutersport,April 1926, but my aunt has it written down differently. Any census information some one might find about David especially before 1885 is greatly appreciated and knowing what county Lancaster is located in will also be of great help. Thanks in advance to all that are able to help me. Joan Beebe Meddaugh formerly of Candor, NY. Tioga Co. Hi Lorraine, Have you tried ZOOK? **************************************************************************** **************************************************************************** ************** Subject: [PDGO] Re: need help with spelling!!!!! Surnames: SUCK Hi Elaine, This is a difficult name to research..seems to bring up lots of spam! There is a line of SUCK in Australia, originating with Heinrich SUCK who arrived to Victoria Australia 1868 - he was born circa 1823, and married Helen HANRAHAN. Sadly we can find no trace of Heinrich after about 1880...possibly he entered the USA. It is believed Heinrich came from Germany, but this is unproven. If you have any info I would love to hear from you. Regards Lorraine
