    1. SEYDEL/SEIDEL/SEITLE from Germany to Phila. PA and beyond!

    3. Hey all you buddies, just had an interesting call from my brother-in-law from NC. He found one of his lines comes back to good ole PA~~Philadelphia and possibly Berks Co. Interesting! but then most seem to come back to PA! Anyway, he is hoping I can help him out with finding info on his family. I haven't checked anything yet, having just got off the phone with him. But here is the info I got from him before he had to go. Johann Michael SEYDEL md (oh he didn't tell me her first name) WISE. They came to Philadelphia on ship HOPE on Oct. 1, 1773. They had 4 children born in PA one of which is his ancestor, Michael W. SEYDEL. Michael was bn 1796 and died in 1854. Not sure where he died. Michael married Elizabeth BUCK. Others on the same ship with Johann Michael SEYDEL was John George SEIDEL. Another spellings were SEITLE as well. He said his family line started in Germany to Philadelphia, PA not sure where they went next. But he said they even were in York Co. PA before ending up down in NC. Most of this info he got from a book he is reading written by a SEYDEL. He asked me if I'm familiar with that surname and I said of course. It is popular down in the Oley Valley area as well as Alsace Twp. area. Has anyone been researching this family? Does this sound familiar to anyone? Does anyone have any other info on these people or this ship? If you have ideas let me know. I'll pass it onto my brother-in-law. He's hoping to verify things. The book was written in 1958. I'm going to see what I can do to find info for him. Thanks for all your help! crystal http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/palship_list.shtml<http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/palship_list.shtml> shows the ship HOPE coming into port on this date but looks like there is a cost. Kristine' does your subscription cover this? Can anyone else look up the passenger list? I'm going to check Rootsweb and World Connect. Thanks all! crystal

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: West, Smith Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3dB.2ACI/6161 Message Board Post: Hello, I am researching the West family. The oldest known ancestor is John West born 1790 in Pennsylvania. We know that the family is of German origin from the census records. We know they were Pennsylvania Dutch from census records. John West was living in Upper Canada in 1811 when he married Watte Casey in Adolphustown. They named their sons, William, Samuel, Henry, Smith, and Rowland. Rowland was named after the mothers family. Smith is a name that appears in each generation of the family and it may be the maiden name of the mother of John West. Does anyone have any information on a West family from Germany that lived in the Pennsylvania area in the 1700's? We are at a dead end in our research and would appreciate any help. Sylvia West

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3dB.2ACI/4321.4399 Message Board Post: Albrecht (anglicized by English-speaking officers to Albright) Deibler had 6 children that I have identified: Daniel, Catherine, Susanna, Christina, Maria Magdalena and John George. Daniel married Anna Maria Fissel and had 11 children; Catherine married Johan George Bealis (Bellis) and had at least 3 children; Susanna married Christian Hoffman and had 13 children; I have Christina marrying John Hoffman, Jr. (one of his 4 spouses) and having 5 children; Maria Magdelena married Andrew Harter and had 4 children; and John George married Barbara Garman and had 3 children. Albrecht's wife, Catherine (possibly Schupp) married Benjamin Buffington after Albrecht's death in Long Island in about 11/1776. My family has the taufschein of Elizabeth Deibler, Daniel and Anna Maria Fissel's youngest daughter. On it the name is Fissel, not Fissler. More precisely, it is Fisselin (the -in being the feminine German ending). I think her parents were Johann and Margaret Elizabeth Fissel, and she was born in Lancaster Co., PA. Beyond that, I have no further information on her family.
