Most Tysons come from Cornelius Tyson, son of Theiss Peters, probably son of Peter Doors (he was definitely son of Peter, due to the patronymic Peters): Cornelius Teissen: Immigrated from Crefeld, Germany in 1703 and lived in Germantown until 1716 when he died. Married Margaret __(?)__ - had 6 children. Will written 6 Apr 1716 and proved 23 Jul 1716. Recorded in Philadelphia office for the Recording of Wills in Will Book D, p 54. One of Cornelius' sons, Peter, may have had no children (I haven't pursued that line). Most children were daughters, otherwise there was one son who was quite prolific: Matthias Tyson... Matthias (Imm) TYSON - 1758 Will Source: Cornelius TYSON Descendents, by G. A. Kerr-Tyson "I nominate my two sons, Cornelius and John TYSON to be my executors. To Barbara Sellen TYSON, my beloved wife, all my household goods, one cow, the sum of Two Hundred Pounds, should any part remain after her decease and the funeral expenses are paid, said sum shall be divided into eight equal parts to be paid when they are twenty one or married which may happen first. The remaining estate equally among my eight children. Cornelius, one eighth; Henry TYSON, one eighth in trust [Henry was blind], to be paid to the granddaughters, Sibilla and Barbara. The third eighth to Margaret and her four sons she had by Jacobus PENNEBECKER, viz: Matthias, Henry, Barbara, and Jacobus. The fourth eighth to be divided among children of Peter, viz: Mary, Barbara, Cornelius, Catharine, and Joseph. The remaining four eighths to sons, William, John, Benjamin, and Joseph. Ratifying and confirming this writing, contained in two pages and this part of the third page of this one sheet of midling, to be my last will and testament." Witnesses: John BOCKIUS Joseph ASHMEAD Thomas ROSE I looked in the book for Phebe, but couldn't find her. Once you make your exact Tyson link, I can scan the info from the book. I am descended from Cornelius through two lines. Michel Michel
Phebe Tyson married Adam Stoffer in Pennsylvania na dmoved to Portage County, Ohio. There son Jonathan Stoffer was born January 13, 1827 in Portage County, Ohio at age 19 he moved to Brown County, Illionis, then on to McDouough County, Ill. He was a Potter and had a business. His parnets are buried in Brown County, Ill.. He then went on to Tennessee. Most Tyson families I see on the Census in Pennsylvania are from Montgomery County, Penn. I am trying to locate Tysons and share this imformation. I think Tyson is a Dutch name. There was also Rebecca Ann Stoffer in Portge County, Ohio that married to Jacob Sapp on Aug 29, 1820 she was born in Pennsylvania. Arthur Stoffer married Huldah Goss in Portage on Sep 9 1840. Isaac Stoffer married Anna Hoffman Feb 20 1834 in Portage County, Ohio. Ephriam was the first to show up in Portage County, Ohio on the 1830 Census. Donna Osborn Any help with the names Tyson, and where they came from in Pennsylvanaia.?
Land in Ohio was the first "homestead" land given out by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) shortly after the American Revolution. Some of it was given free to religious people with the purpose of bringing their religion to the native American Indians of Ohio, some land was given as bounty awards for military service, some was sold. A search on the internet may provide more information and accuracy. Possibly some of this land was taken by the STAUFFER/STAFFORD families of early Pennsylvania. Good luck, Elida Descendent of Hans STAUFFER, 1710 emigrant to Philadelphia County. ----- Original Message ----- From: D. Donna, Thank you. You have also noticed that a number of "Penna. Dutch" families either settled in such as STARK Co. OH or for a short time at least, then moved on to such place,s as in Ind. or even in WILL Co. Ill. For example, surname,s that I have been researching: FREY/FRY, GRILL, WEINHOLD/WINEHOLT, and many other,s Many of the such families, either came originally from Berks or Lancaster Counties in PA. That is where one wants to look for information. The U.S. Census is one place where to start looking. As a matter of fact I am looking for an E-mail contact with the DONALD OSBORN family in N.E. Ind. We used to be in touch via Postal mail many years ago. Stauffer IS a very common surname here in Lancaster Co. PA. In family history researching, one way is to zero in , as it were, on the Church they WERE (at least) member,s, and in the case of a number of Stauffer,s, they were of the Mennonite Faith. Please excuse my tying: as of this past Wed.I am NOW with TWO "bad" eye,s. Using a patch over the one so that I do not see double. D. Ernest Weinhold DEWeinhold@juno.com
There are alot of these names in Stark, Portage and Summit Counties Ohio, from the state of Pennsylvania, from 1820 and on. I found alot of them on the 1880 census in Ohio and am working on mine in Ohio. In Portage County and Summit Counties Ohio. Stark is close to these. In Portage County Ohio and Stark these names show up as early as 1830. Pennsylvania's these may be some of your ancestors your missing. Just thought I would bring this to your attenetion. I need help on my Pennsylvania the name spelled above. Did they change the Spelling of this name along the way in Pennsylvania before moving to Ohio? Summit County was part of Portge, Medina, and Stark before1840. Portage County was formed in 1808 from Trumbull. Stark was formed in 1808 from Columbiana. Donna Osborn

I'm interested in finding his parents and siblings. I have three different years that he lists as his DOB (1858,1863,1865) but but I'm sure he was born in March of one of them. The only clue to his fater is on his marraige record he lists a D. Scheible. no mother's name is given. How can I find his birth/christening record from the church in Baden? I know it's hard without parents names.

HI, I am looking for info on the descendants of Benjamin Shoemaker (b 1787 Berks Co.) [m 1810 Berks C] Susannah Ludwg (b 1791 Berks Co.) In the 1820 and future censuses in Buffalo Twp., Union Co. Censuses indecate more than one child. I have one son as Levi. I found info on a Samuel L. in Union Co., could he be a son? There was also information about a Charles L. (abt 1810-1845), could he be a son? Unknown daughters? Thanks Michelle
I couldn't help but notice this. I have Stiehl/Steele in my family but they are in Fleetwood, Berks Co, PA. I don't know much of them but they lived in Fleetwood. My John Steele/Stiehl was a gardener/grower and supposed to be the last of his line even though he was survived by children. I think the article written in a Fleetwood History book meant he was the last of his siblings but I do not know about that. I have no siblings for him. Here is what I have on him: Johannes Shamp Steele son of Abraham Stiehl/Steele (bn between 1780-1790 in PA) and Eva Shamp (bn in PA). Johannes Steele bn 26 Jan 1827 PA d 14 Dec 1915 Fleetwood, Berks Co, PA md 9 Aug 1848 Ruscombmanor Twp, Berks Co, PA to Sarah Keller Noll. She was the dau of Heinrich Keller Noll (1798 Alsace Twp, Berks Co, PA-1883 Ruscombmanor Twp, Berks Co, PA) and Maria Catharina Keller (1803 Ruscombmanor Twp, Berks Co, PA-1885 Ruscombmanor Twp, Berks Co, PA). Sarah was bn 5 Apr 1824 Ruscombmanor Twp, Berks Co, PA d 22 Sep 1912 Fleetwood, Berks Co, PA. I have 8 children for them: 1. Mary Stiehl bn abt 1848 died after 1915 md Joseph Peters 2. Eva Noll Stiehl/Steele (my line) bn 3 Oct 1850 Berks Co, PA d 14 Nov 1897 Muhlenberg Twp, Berks Co, PA md Johannes Snyder Noll (1849 Muhlenberg Twp, Berks Co, PA-1902 Muhlenberg Twp, Berks Co, PA son of Gideon Fuchs Noll (1813 Muhlenberg Twp, Berks Co, PA-1880 Muhlenberg Twp, Berks Co, PA) and Catharina Schneider/Snyder (1808 PA-1886 Berks Co, PA). 3. Catharine Steele bn abt 1852 4. Elisabeth Steele bn abt 1856 5. Emma N. Stiehl bn 25 Jan 1858 d 16 Dec 1948 md Morris M. Rothermel 6. Maggie Stiehl bn abt 1861 PA died after 1915 md Daniel Bowers 7. Henry N. Stiehl bn abt 1863 PA died after 1915 8. Rebecca Stiehl bn abt 1866 PA died after 1915 md John Rothermel Maybe this will help you but maybe it might confuse you more! I know in Berks Co there are other variants of Stiehl/Steele some with a Y at the end of the name. Good luck! crystal >My basis for thinking that Hugh Steel was likely born in PA is two part-- 1. Of his 9 children who were still alive in 1880 (7 of them), they all state on that census that their father was born in PA. They were a bit divided on their response for their mother, some saying VA and some saying PA, but most said PA for her, too........ Sherry Steele (Seattle)< ______________________________
