That would not have occurred to me. I really thought that pre-arranged marriages were done only among people with strong and close ethnic ties. My mother did not appear to have any ethnicity about her, except perhaps a way of saying a few words that some say resembled German. Do you know if it was a Dutch or PA Dutch custom to arrange marriages? Angie

    3. With all the discussion of the Noll/Bloch families, I would like to know if anyone has the parents for the Sarah Bloch mentioned. Sarah I beleive was mentioned as married to Levi Noll. I have a David Bloch b. 1 May 1831 who married Mary Ann Schnabel , wondering if he could be a brother to Sarah b. 1830. Does anyone connect to this Bloch family? Thanks Sue

    3. Hi-- Since you seem to have some records of the Noll family, I was hoping you might be able to help me. I have been searching for several years (in vain) for the family of my great great grandmother Sarah (sometimes referred to as Mary) Noll. She lived 1843-1895 and was married to John Henry Lark/Lerch (1844-1921) who fought in the Civil War. Their family is interred under one large monument in the Shenks Union Cemetery in Lebanon Co, PA. Records vary...The Civil War pension records do not 'agree' with the tombstone as to whether the family used 'Noll' or occasionally 'Knoll'. If anyone has any information, I would be most appreciative, as this ancestor has been quite elusive as to her family for a very long time. Thank you in advance.
