    1. [PaDgo] FamilyHart March Update
    2. We are working away at getting more data in our database for the March update. We are as always way behind. As of this morning we have over 215, 000 names in our database to go to the update, which makes about 10,000 new names. We hope to get another 1000 or 2000 in before we do the upload. Some names won't make it for this update however but will go in the June update. We apologize if your names do not make it. We will be adding much in the way of Brethren and Mennonite names, mostly from Washington County, MD; Franklin County, PA; Ogle County, IL; and Carroll County, IL. We will also be adding quite a bit on the German Thomas family of Washington County and Frederick County, MD; the Rhyne family of North Carolina: the Shirk family of Franklin County, PA; the Sturm family of Kentucky and West Virginia; and the Kohr family of Pennsylvania. Many more Glattfelder family names have been added as well from all over with all spellings (i.e. Glotfelty, Clodfelter, etc.). All names in our database are related by blood or marriage to us. Right now we are looking at a couple of windows for the update... Feb 26-27 or Mar 4-5 or Mar 18-19 We will let you know. Thanks! Don & Jeanine http://midatlantic.rootsweb.com/familyhart/

    3. Sandy says, Hi, I hate to prick a hole in anyone's balloon but the Chinese got here a lot earlier than that! And then there are the "native" Americans a bit earlier. ~~~~~~~~~~ Of course, we all know there were no 'native' Americans. Man raised himself from the primal ooze in Africa and spread from there, at least, according to current knowledge. There were several waves of migration from Asia across the ice during the ice ages by way of an ice bridge. There were sophisticated civilizations extending from the far North down through Canada, USA, Mexico, Central and South America. The Vikings and Norse spread from their Northland and plundered and homesteaded across Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Greenland and North America. The Danish still have claims in some of those areas. There was an age of European explorations, flag plantings and wars to arrogantly claim this land, that indeed, was not lost. After the "Americans" (so called), kicked the English, French and Spanish out they conducted 'the mother of all ethnic cleansings' from the East to West Coast, charmingly called Manifest Destiny. Barbarianism committed by 'one and all'. No bragging rights. Karen Henderson Sunnyvale, CA doty_carstensen@msn.com

    1. [PaDgo] James Dilworth and Mary
    2. Debbie Olsen
    3. Hi everyone, I am now much closer to finding where my Sarah Dilworth fits in with the Dilworth line. I'd like to know the parents of the grandfather listed below. Here is what I know: Grandfather: DILWORTH, JAMES. Bristol Township, Co. of Phila. Husbandman. Died between April 23, 1791. January 10, 1793 Wife: Mary. Children: Nathan who married Phebe Rebecca who married an Armitage. Sarah who married Joseph Potts (born Jan 3 1742/3) on Mar 23, 1769 They had a son George Potts Elizabeth who married a Buzby. They had a son Isaac Buzby. Grandchildren: Sarah [Wife of John Whartenby]*** Mary [Wife of John Matthews], Elizabeth [Wife of William Nicholson]. The Exec of the will of James Dilworth: Leonard Shallcross, and Isaac Worrell [of Oxford]. Wit: Benjamin Kite, Robert Worrell, Jacob Worrell. Codicil: Signed April 1, 1792. Son: Nathan. Wit: Matthew Ingram, Jacob Dilworth. LDS files show that James Dilworths children were born: Nathan: abt 1762 Rebecca: abt 1766 Sarah: abt 1764 Something must be wrong here as Sarah got married in 1769! I don't know if Nathan Dilworth is my ***Sarah Dilworth's father (she married John Whartenby). If his dates are right then they both would have had to have gotten married VERY young. James Dilworth may have had another son, who was the father of Sarah, and if he had died before 1791 he would not show up in the will. On the other hand, Sarah's granddaughter is named Phoebe (same as Nathan's wife). Some LDS files indicate that James (the grandfather) was James Jr.. Does anyone recognize this family? Can anyone supply more information or more accurate information? I know that Sarah was married to John Whartenby by the 1790's as they had two children: John and Jacob during the 90's. Thanks for any help you can give me. Debbie ===== Searching for these surnames: Barrett, Dilworth, Evans, Lovelidge, Marvill, Whartenby. Also Bardsley, Gebhard, Greete, Grimm, Jennings, Kephart, Kohl, Miller, Orton, Schminke, Sterling, Stokes, Tyler and Wentz. 3. Charles Musser has the wrong book. THE PENNSYLVANIA LINE A Research Guide to Pennsylvania Genealogy and Local History is published by Southwest Pennsylvania Genealogical Services, Box 253, Laughlintown, PA 15655. I understand that Bill Iscupe died, but that fact has never been verified. He was the editor. His wife, Shirley McQuillis (sp?) I believe is still doing genealogy. I just checked out the site and found the following: "The Pennsylvania Line : Regimental Organization and Operations, 1775-1783 by John B., Jr. Trussell Our Price: $15.95" Listers should be cautious however . . . this is NOT the "PENNSYLVANIA LINE A Research Guide To Pennsylvania Genealogy and Local History", Compiled by William L. Iscrupe and Shirley G. M. Iscrupe which is presently out of print.
