Could anyone who has "Berks County Births" please look up some Bercherts, Bergert's, Bergers, Berkarts, Bercharts, Borchards, Borgerts, etc. for me. You get the picture. They're all really Burkharts. I'm especially interested in anyone born in second half of 18th century, in Berks Co, whose name CONTAINED the name Phillip or Philip - as first or second name. I'm also compiling the information for the Burkhart and Burkett lists. It seems the cousin who sent me stuff from BErks County Births didn't include all the spellings. I need to verify the information in a Journal of the BCGS (Winter 1990-91) - as transcribed for me by a distant cousin. POssible she was wrong though unlikely. Lists the death of Barbara Burkhard. died age 79 years. b 14 Mar 1775, d 27 dec 1855. Parents Henry WAgner, Elizabeth Wagner. Husband Philip Burkhard. Children: Elizabeth, Maria, John W., Lydia Ann. The abstract of Phillip Burkhart's will, from 1824, mentions John W. and daughters including specifically minors Lydia and Ann, according to several transcriptions of it sent me by several different people. If anyone has a way to get this information from the Reading death register separately, I would greatly appreciate it. I am looking for information on my PA Dutch family. My great grandfather's name is William David Wolfe born in Avis? PA. His parents were German born and may have came through NJ before settling in PA. I have no iformation at this time on parents names or siblings. the only information my father has is the above. His date of birth is 9-1-1857. He died in Wisconsin in 1950. I do have photos of what I believe (although unmarked) are Wolf/Wolfe family members taken in Bellefonte PA and one in NJ. The new Jersey photo is of an older gentleman with a long gray beard. My guess would be that the Wolfe's in this family were Lutheran or Reformed although I have no proof of this. Wm married Pluma Case about 1885 or so probably in the midwest. They had two children Josephine 12-1886 and Lloyd Ernst 9-23-1893. If anyone has any interest in the photos or any information that could possibly help me in my search please contact me. I can scan and send the photos if anyone is interested. What are the small towns inside Perry Twp. and Maidencreek Twp. between 1809 and 1900? Is there a site that shows how the counties and Townships came about. I'm trying to figure where to look for records of GGGrandparents and I only have the map of Townships in 1820 but doesn't say what Towns were in them. Thanks for any help you can give me. Kay ----- Original Message ----- From: Liz Miller <lizmiller@bigfoot.com> In the Ohio Genealogy Society located in Mansfield OH, there is a publication by Wilbur D. Gerber, for John Calhoun Gerber & Iva Mabel Havenstock Family History (submitted in 1975). There about 6 pages of family information from ELIAS GERBER's FAMILY BIBLE. These pages are written in German as well as typed & transcribed into English. Other parts of the family history state that Christian Gerber b.1763 came from PA to Stark County OH in 1810. Dear Joan, You caught me! :-) Most of my PADUTCH stuff is either ' my ' family specific, or Mennonite specific and I guess that in this case neither would apply. I really must say that the response from this list was overwhelming and I am very grateful. So far I have received 17 different versions of the Weigel name. Thank you, especially, for steering me to your web page... I found it an interesting and informative place to visit... you have done a very nice job. Hello, The name WEIGEL is non-existent in any of my PA DUTCH reference material. Would anyone know if this name is derived from another, or possibly mis-read from the record? Talking 18th century, Lancaster Co., PA area. Thanks for any clues. Yours truly, David, on the central coast, California, USA
