LANCASTER CO have a Terisa BAKER 7/26/1807 in PA -6/8/1858 wed to Elias KOBLE 9/15/1796 in France-10/24/1865. They were wed 12/23/1822. They lived in Lancaster co and are buried at the Clearfield Methodist cemetery in southern Lancaster co. I am seeking info on the origins of either family. I have not found Terisa listed in wills or deeds in Lancaster co. Terisa seems to be an unusual name as I have seen no other Bakers in Lancaster co. with that name. They had many children one of whom was martin COBLE b1825 wed to Maria RESSEL. LANCASTER CO Also seeking info on Maria RESSEL's grandparents-Michael RESSEL wed to Mary STEDMAN/Stehman 11/26/1777-10/28/1866. There is a Michael RUSSEL/RESSEL owned land in Lampeter, Lancaster co. who died in 1737. Patent #25 6/1718. He could be Michael's father. John Christopher RUSSEL of Bart twp. Lancaster co. lists Michael RESSEL as receiving cash from accounts so I believe that my Michael RESSEL was RUSSEL. There are a slew of Little Britain and Bart RUSSEL families. LANCASTER CO Mathias SCHIMPF of Cocalico Lancaster co. He came in 1751 to Phila on the Rotterdam. He came with brothers Johann Jacob, Melchior and Frederick. Trinity Luthern of New Holland lists a Mathias Schimpf wed to Christina RUSSLI 12/14/1758. His death record in 1777 lists wife as Elizabeth. LANCASTER CO Messach/Mefshach ERB of Lampeter, Lancaster co. PA. He owned land in New Providence and Strasburg and his will was proved in 1833. According to the will his children are: Esther wed Daniel ZITTLE Elizabeth wed to Jacob ROCKAFIELD Catherine called Kittie wed to Adam LEFEVRE John died before 1833 Joseph YORK CO. Does anyone have access or knowledge of where to find information on veterans of the war of 1812. I am trying to look up information on Daniel Musser who served in Pipers Regiment. It seems this was a PA militia unit and not a regular US Unit.
There is a Dreisbach Church (note the "R") in Buffalo Valley in Union County, PA. Union Co. was created from Northumberland in 1772, and there are lots of PA Dutch in the valley. It is very rural. I cannot say how far the church goes back, but I know I have found burials in the churchyard as early as 1815. The Dreisbach is, today, a United Church of Christ; before 1957, I believe, it was German Reformed. Hope this is of help! Seeking the name of the father of Philip , born 30 Oct 1828 (d. 15 Feb 1892, in OHIO) to Maria Bear Eberly, in Lancaster County. She, his mother, gave Philip the surname WEINHOLD. (Hence "we" are assuming that THE father was a Weinhold) In 26 July 1830 , Maria Bear Eberly, mother of Philip Weinhold, married Samuel SHOWALTER. After Samuel Showalter (Philip's stepfather) died (15 June 1834) , Philip Weinhold adopted the surname of SHOWALTER and moved to the state of OHIO and married Sarah Ann MOORE. The surname WEINHOLD can be spelled differently: Wineholt, Weinholt, Weinholder. etc. D. Thank you very much, Joan. This has been a mystery because I knew Thalassemia has also been called Mediterranean anemia but our family is very Germanic. We have traced this blood disorder back to my PA. Dutch great grandfather who was German and Swiss. More recently, though, I learned that one of his PA Dutch lines was French Huguenot. I guess the French side is the most likely source of Thalassemia, but I haven't seen French ancestry mentioned in the information I've read about Thalassemia and I haven't found it among other LABARRE / LABAR / LAWAR descendants. Because French Huguenots fled to the Rhine area of Germany and lived there among Germans and Swiss and later lived and worshipped among them in PA, I've wondered if other PA Dutch descendants had encountered Thalassemia in their families. I've also looked for Jewish ancestry in our family, but have found none. Joan, is your neighbor Italian and not PA Dutch? Thank you again for your help. I hope you and your family are well and greatly blessed. Cathy ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! In My Musser research, I found many articles where a Benjamin Musser had received much notoriety for treatment of a disease called "white swellings." The cure would be what we call Aspirin today. That was in 1700s. I have no idea of who this guy was other than that.
Hi Everyone, Do any of you have knowledge of the blood disease, Thalassemia, among the PA Dutch? If so, I would be grateful for any information that is available. Cathy--Being of Pa. "Dutch" ancestry myself, your post threw a little scare into me. I did some quick research and found that the disease is not likely to be found in Germans. Please see the site below for some good information on the topic. Doug http://www.thalassemia.org/medical/medical.htm
Another comment. I learned the hard way and paid way to much for a book I could have gotten for about 1/4 what I paid. I was given this site to look for books and found it cheaper. So I always look here first and see what the price is to compare what I am willing to pay if not I order form this site. http://www.bookfinder.com/ Hope this helps and saves someone some money. Searching for any info on : Anna Maria Wenrich born 2-16-1808 sponsors: David Wenrich and Anna Maria Beier Church Altalaha Church in Rehrersburg, Berks Co. Pa parents : John Wenrich and wife, Christine (I believe to be John Wenrich III and first wife, Christina Boyer) Where is Anna Maria Wenrich buried, did she marry? Thanks for any help! Bev
A word of caution about using ebay auctions from someone who learned the hard way. Don't bid on an item without adding the proxy option. If you simply bid 50 dollars and it's the high bid, five minutes before the auction closes some one will sneak in and get what you want for 51 dollars and you haven't time to rebid. So figure out the maximum you'll spend and put it as a proxy bid. Then automatically they'll boost your bid up to keep people from snatching what you want. So read about proxy bidding and act accordingly. There's lots of genealogical information going up for bid. To find it without getting tons of useless junk you have to use boolean logic. Happy bidding, Sandy

Are there lists of apprentices and who they were bound to dating back to 1800 in PA? Where can they be found? I am searching for a hatters list. Thanks, Chas. Musser
There was some interest in this book **PENNSYLVANIA LINE, published by Southwest PA Genealogical Services** a while back on one of the lists I'm on. As I am not sure on which list I saw it, I will be posting this on 3 or 4 lists, so please bear with multiple posts. This is the THIRD edition (green--1983). There has since been a FOURTH edition (red) and I believe there was a posting a while back from someone on this list who said there will be a new version sometime in the future. I need any information on Benneville and Barbara KEIM, who were executors of the will of Phillip Burkhart, who died in Alsace in 1824. They were probably close kin of his - and could be clues to his identity. I'm not exactly turning up stuff all over the web on Keim genealogy.
