    3. Can't resist replying! PADutch are those Germans who came early into PA and spoke German (Deusch). My Berger ancestors came in 1744 and my grandmother, b 1870 still spoke German, or rather PA Dutch, which is a form of German understood somewhat in Germany (as we somewhat understand those from Alabama and Boston!) Double Dutch is a wonderful game of jumping rope which I loved to play as a child. 3. Posted on: Pennsylvania Dutch Biographies Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/DutchBios?read=49 Surname: Miller, Harmer, Keel, Lindner ------------------------- Hi, Jo Ann - Sorry it took so long to respond to your post -- I just happened to notice it this evening, along with about 678 other Emails. My grandmother was Rebecca Estella Harmer Keel, and her sister married a George Miller. Harmer was their maiden name. They lived in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and their father was Richard Sharpless Harmer, Sr. I made contact with Richard Sharpless Harmer IV thru the internet, and have since met many other cousins. We are having a get-together in Philadelphia on June 5, 2000. I am expecting 20 to 30 people at my home in Bucks County, PA. I currently know that the Millers are related to the Harmer clan through marriage, as I mentioned earlier, and in June of 1999 there was a Miller Family ReUnion just outside of Philadelphia, PA. I was not able to attend, although I was invited -- a big chart was being filled in by everyone in attendance, and I am still waiting to get my hands on a copy of this chart information. Another cousin, Alice Wright, told me all about it. Her daughter is putting together the chart information. That is all I know at this time.

    2. In Francis Parkman's book "The Conspiracy of Pontiac" (I'm reading from 9th ed., l899) he publishes "evidence against the Indians of Conestoga...." "Abraham Newcomer, a Mennonist (sic) declared that several times within these few years, Bill Soc and Indian John, two of the Conestogue (sic) Indians, threatened to scalp him for refusing to mend their tomahawks...." This is part of a longer deposition involving others and was attested to Feb. 28, l764. Just FYI --Dixie in Indiana
