Posted on: Pennsylvania Dutch Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Dutch?read=4814 Surname: Schaeffer, Ruhlin, Feterolf ------------------------- My Schaeffer line information (mostly in Richmond Township, Berks County) is through Philip Schaeffer, b.1770, d. 1853, m. Elizabeth Feterolf, dau. of Peter Feterolf and Susanna Seitz. Philip Schaeffer was the son of Georg Schaeffer, b.?, d. 1792 and Maria Katharina Ruhlin according to my father's information. I found it coincidental how close the two Maria Katharinas surnames were and also that you mentioned the Federolf (Feterolf) line as well. Would you like to explore any other similarities?
hello, No I do not know the name of the church or township. All I have to go on is a 1901 letter written by Florence Musser stating her father Daniel was B. in PA (1850 census of Ky also shows him b. in PA). Florence also stated that her grand parents were Catherine and Christian Musser. In 1800 there was a Christian in Strabane Twn in Washington Co. There were only two in 1800 census and thisone had a wife Catherine. They moved to Coshocton , Ohio. Catherine is burried at Robinson Run cemetery near the town of McDonald in Allegheney Co PA. One dau and a son are buried there. A possible grandson Robert Sturgeon Muser was born in Noblestown in Allegheney C. North Fayette Township is where othr children lived. The only other clue that I have is that Daniel was a hatter by trade. His tombstone reads Daniel Musser b. 24 Jun 1793 and D.15 Sept 1851. He died of cholera in Cynthiana , KY. He had son Adolphus (Union Sodier) who became an attorney and newspaper man in Plattsburg, Mo. : Col.Richard H. attorney and newspaper (editor) (confederate) and JAG for Gen Sterling Price in Civil War: Robert W. Musser , (Union soldier) attorney and newspaper editor: Caleb, a newspaper editor and Daniel, killed in Civil War (confederate) Col. Richard Musser was guardian for Florence and had her placed in a convent for safety during the war . She became a nun. Col Richard also joined the Catholic church (due to nursing care by he nuns onthe battlefield.) Adolphus married Martha Cheatham (a Dunkard) in Plattsburg ,MO I need diumentation for Daniels birth Jun 24 , 1793.

Posted on: Pennsylvania Dutch Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Dutch?read=4813 Surname: Markel ------------------------- I was born a Markel, in York Pa. Parents split up when I was very young. I don't remember my dad's parents, except for calling them NanNan and Pappa Markel. My father's name is Robert Eugene Markel and my mother's name is Jane Seese. As far as I know my father is still alive. I am not sure where he was born. Twenty years ago we met up and the only information I can remember that he gave me is that his birth month is January and the day is mid month to the end of the month, and the year is somewhere between 1928 and 1933. And I do know that he was a twin. But his twin sister died, when and how I do not know. Please, any information you can find out on what my paternal grandparents would be gratefully appreciated. From what I can remember, I had a very close relationship with my father and his parents, and then it all went away.

I'm at home and don't have a copy. But I've used one in York and Lancaster Historical Societies and imagine that many other libraries or historical societies should have a copy or get one on library loan.
Dear Howard, According to Keith Dull's Early German Settlers of York Co Magdalena Heckedorn born 1May 1729, daughter of Hannes and Margareta Heckedorn m George Schmidt in Bethlehem, Northumberland Co on 25 Jan 1756 and then moved to North Carolina. Not all of her siblings are fully accounted for so some of them may also have been in Northumberland. Good luck.
