(2.) George's father was a Jacob Schaeffer who was married to a Christine (?). George too was likely born in the 1790's. (3.) George & Maria were married in 1818 in Womelsdorf, PA (4.) A fellow researcher says he found George & Maria's graves at Christ Lutheran Church Stouchsburg, PA (5.) George had a son John who lived in Newton county, Indiania in 1866. Futher details are on my web site (see below url) At this point I am on now the track of George's parents, Jacob & Christine (nee?) Schaeffer - most likely born prior to 1775 in the Tulpehocken settlement in Berks, Lebanon, or Schuykill County, PA. Anyone have any clues or questions about these people? I read an article about the Battle of Gettysburg, and it said that Oyster Point was on the West Shore, across the river from Harrisburg. There is a historical marker in Camp Hill between Market Street and the former supermarket which reads "Farthest advance of a body of Confederate troops toward Harrisburg. Southern troops under General A.G. Jenkins of Ewell's Corps reached Oyster Point on June 28, 1863. It looks like Oyster Point is a part of Camp Hill.
