They were the children of George Bender and Susannah (Nissly) Bender. I understand that the boundaries may have changed or been renamed since that time. Is there a way to determine where the present day location of this place is??? George Bender born 23 Dec. 1764 was the son of Johann Georg Bender born 24 April, 1722. He was the son of Hans Georg Bender who was the first of my ancestors to immigrate from Germany.

    1. [PaDgo] Brown surname
    2. Neil Elvick
    3. Posted on: Pennsylvania Dutch Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Dutch?read=4950 Surname: Brown, Karger, Bickel ------------------------- This sounds like it connects to my family. I am descended from a Michael Brown, probably the father of the Michael Brown you mentioned. He married Anna Karger in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on January 26, 1746. They had 11 children. The oldest was Catherine, who is my great, great great grandmother. She married Jacob Bickel in 1766. Michael Brown was born in Pennsylvania in 1724 and died there in 1785. He operated a grist mill in Lancaster County. His daughter, Catherine and her husband Jacob moved to Shenandoah County, Virginia, in 1784. One of their neighbors there was Michael Brown, who I presume to be one of Catherine's younger brothers. He was born in 1751. I have a muster record of his Revolutionary War service. One of the sisters, Anna Mary, married Frederick Leonard and they moved to Washington County, Virginia. I know some of the family ended up in Wythe County. My ancestors, Jacob and Catherine Bickel, moved on to Montgomery County, then Botetourt County, and then possibly on to Washington County.
